Art in Public Places
Each month the James A. Rutherford Community Center showcases local
artists and their artwork. These exhibitions are free to the public and
open during regular community center hours.
January-Rimma Barenboim
Rimma is a self-taught artist & jeweler, also working in stained glass.
She sews, knits and her “crouched rope” bead creations are all hand crocheted.
Creating one-of-a-kind pieces is a fun and exhilarating journey.

January-Joni Sack
Joni is an award winning self taught artist. She is a member of the Artist’s
Guild of Boca Raton and exhibits widely throughout South Florida.
She has a natural eye for color and composition which is demonstrated

February-Les Petite Collecteurs
A non-profit organization whose purpose is to create and stimulate interest
in dollhouse miniatures. They meet monthly at the Boca Raton
Community Center and each year they conduct a show and sale to generate
money for abused children. Anyone interested in learning more

February-Mimi Franklin
Mimi is from Highland Beach. Her pen and ink pieces reflect her whimsical
view of life. She has exhibited in Georgia, Virginia, New Jersey, and

March-Student Art Shows
This display consists of artwork created by students in grades six
through twelve. To provide recognition, certificates and ribbons are
presented to each student.
April-Alexa Metichecchi
From Bogota, Colombia, a design school graduate, Alexandra’s figure
and portrait paintings are an explosion of expression and movement.
She evokes happy memories, vibrant color and texture. Her works can

A former gallery & frame shop owner in Miami, a self-described eclectic
painter. Marilyn devotes her time to creating artwork exploring a new
interest in ceramics. She has exhibited in local galleries & had several

Criuse the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway along
Jupiter Island. We will see some of Florida’s natural wonders,
homes of the rich & famous, then enjoy dining in an upscale Key

St. Lucie County Historical Museum,
Marine Center & UDT Navy Seal Museum

Explore the St. Lucie County Historical Museum’s colorful exhibits
& artifacts ranging from Spanish Treasure ships & Seminole Wars
to early industries on the Treasure Coast. Then on to the Marine
Center featuring the Smithsonian Marine Everglades Exhibit,
where you will enjoy lunch at Mangrove Matties. Next we travel to
the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to the elite
warriors of Naval Special Warfare. The Navy uDT Seal Museum
offers an extensive collection of weapons, military vehicles, boats
diving gear and a Huey Helicopter.

Deco Hotels on South Beach, Coral Gables’ Mediterranean Revival
Architecture, Little Havana in Calle Ocho and Coconut Grove,
including the palatial Biltmore Hotel and the Venetian Pool. After
the tour you will be on your own for lunch, with choices from
Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Co., Hard Rock Café, Mango’s, Chili’s and
many others restaurants at Bayside Market Place, where you will
also have time to shop.
