c. Insert small pipe into hole.<br />

Imp<strong>or</strong>tant: Be sure direct contact is made between explosive and small pipe. Tamp<br />

explosive around pipe by hand if necessary.<br />

Make sure that there is 1/4 inch (6 mm) empty space above small pipe. Remove explosive if<br />

necessary.<br />

Turn pipe upside down<br />

and push rod 1/2 inch<br />

(1-1/4 cm) into center<br />

of opposite end of<br />

explosive to f<strong>or</strong>m a<br />

hole f<strong>or</strong> the blasting<br />

cap.<br />

Caution: Do not insert blasting cap in hole until ready to fire shaped charge.<br />

2. If TNT <strong>or</strong> other castable explosive is used:<br />

a. Follow procedure, section 2.3, step 4, parts a, b, c, including cautions.<br />

When all the explosive has melted, remove the inner container and stir the molten explosive<br />

until it begins to thicken.
