7.1 Clothespin Switch<br />

A spring type clothespin is used to make a circuit closing switch to actuate explosive charges, mines,<br />

booby traps and alarm systems.<br />

Materials Required<br />

Spring type clothespin<br />

Solid copper wire, 1/16 inch (2 mm) in diameter<br />

Strong string on wire<br />

Flat piece of wood (roughly 1/8 inch x 1 inch x 2 inches)<br />

Knife<br />

Procedure<br />

1. Strip four inches (10 cm) of insulation from the<br />

ends of 2 solid copper wires. Scrape copper wires with<br />

pocket knife until metal is shiny.
