The Jefferson Hotel,“Peoria’s Friendly Hotel”,located at 235 S. JeffersonAvenue in Peoria, IL, wasa 225-room hotel (255 in1914) which opened <strong>to</strong>the public on <strong>Feb</strong>ruary 6,1912. The Jefferson Hotel,was considered the finestHotel in the Peoria Area,f<strong>am</strong>ed for ‘The Tropic’s’, afine-dining and dancinghall. The Jefferson Streethome of Moses Pettengill,formerly located atthe Hotel site, was alsoa station on the UndergroundRailroad.
