2R-Bar’s team of Roland Pfulmann, Jolene Harrell, Brian and Stephanie TeschendorfR Bar & Grill; Renton, WAHot Shot Cup stays putBy Scott KringleOnSaturday, May22, the R-Barin Renton putup the Hot ShotCup for challengeto the next team on the list.Jamie Rice, Garald Ames, AnnCounterman, and Mary Richesonmade the 35 minute drive South fromFlights in Everett for the occasion.R-Bar’s team of Roland Pfulmann,Jolene Harrell, Brian Teschendorf, and Stephanie Teschendorf were lyingin wait for the Flights team. Both teams decided to utilizethe 3-game rule, which is still underconsideration for removal, and may bestricken from play altogether soon.R-Bar enjoys a large interior witheight dart boards lining the wall, plusa large, new smoking patio out front. Itwas Brian Teschendorf’s great shootingin the ninth game to get the lead, taking out a 148. By the time the eleventhgame came along, it was R-Barholding onto a slim lead, 6-5.Ty, Flights’ owner, showed uparound the sixth game to cheer on histeam. Now I’m not saying it was hisfault or anything, but for some reasonFlights lost eight in a row about thattime. “He just showed up at the wrongtime”, someone in the crowd said.Roland hit 119 points in ‘01 totake out the game, and the rest of theteam played their best. Even Jamie’smooning of his partner Ann was notenough encouragement to kick Flightsinto gear. They eventually succumbedto a 17-8 loss on the day.Next we will be seeing somerevamped teams, because by thetime this cup is shot again, the newrating book will be out. Look for yourratings and sign up your team, ChallengeCups will be coming to yourbar soon.June 2010 - www.themedallion.net

DAWSONS; TACOMA, WAWomens CupMarked by SkillWah Long at DawsonsItBy Joseph Mathiaswas a beautiful Saturdayafternoonand representingWah Long in theWomen’s Cup challengewere the bestall-female teamthey could muster;Trish Brown, LoriLow, Anita Taoipuand Mina Bearheaded for Dawson’s Bar & Grill inTacoma. For today they would challengethe likes of Kelly Pappuzza,Stacy Gustafson, Angie Bakko andJenny Wood for the highly-covetedWomen’s Cup.I’m telling you what, the girlscame with their A game. Lori’s LowTon and Anita’s 71 out-the-hard-wayhelped Wah Long to a one-game advantage. In game two, Angie and Stacyeach hit Low Tons to put Dawson’s onthe scoreboard. When game three rolled around, you would’ve thought it was a highratedmatchup as each player hit multiple3, 4, and 5-counts, but it would beDawson’s who would come out on top totake the game and the lead, 2-1.Over the next nine games itseemed Wah Long could do no wrong, even though each game went down tothe very end. As evidenced in gameseven, where the game had to be extendedto get a winner. Wah Long continuedon to a 9-2 lead after eleven.Dawson’s put an end to theirstreak in game twelve when Stacy hita Low Ton and Jenny took the gameout with a 30 to make it 9-3.Another close one next, bothteams busted on their out, but WahLong would finally hit the out and aftera couple more hard fought games,it was 11-4, Wah Long.Mina and Anita really showedthey wanted to win this match whenthey stepped up and took game sixteen.Trish and Lori hit big darts towin in the 17th as Wah Long extendedtheir lead to 13-4.Just when you think Wah Long isrunning away with it, Dawson’s drewfrom their championship inner-powersin game 19, and then pulled out a7-count from Kelly, a 6-count from Stacyto win them a game. Dawsons wenton to win the next five games to bringthe score to 14-10 after 24 games. However, it was Wah Long whowould run off with the next threegames and take the match, 17-10.Wah Long takes home the cashand the trophy! Awesome job girls! They will anxiously await their firstchallenger. That was an impressivewin against a very tough Dawson’steam, who assured us they will be backto reclaim their trophy. Gotta love it!Julie and Lori came out with friendsPickled OnionContinued from page 6proven once again last month whennearly fifty players gathered for agreat day of darts!Harry poured out a backpackfull of dart supplies onto the tableand serviced a bunch of customers, helping them get stocked up on supplies, including flights, tips, shafts, barrels, etc.The unflappable Terry conductedthe tourney in his typical level-headed?fashion. Even though the room wasfilled with low-rated players, doesn’tmean these guys are green either. Thefact is, many of these players havea substantial amount of experiencearound the game, and by the sametoken, they tend not to be pushoversat the boards! Trust me on this.Sean, Pickled Onion’s owner-typeguy, was pedaling alcohol from behindthe bar. He was in a good mood, andthe players appreciated his low-ratedtourney offering that day. It was sucha big success, Sean vowed to do itagain in the future. How about JuneCourtney and Summer at Pickled Onion12th? That’s right, you have anotherchance to shoot this tournament yourselfcoming up on Saturday, June 12 at2pm. Come out and join in the fun withyour dart friends. Have some lunchtoo – their food is pretty darn goodhere.
