4.4. Setting up the preferences 50In addition to the actual analysis options, there are various other editable options whichhave mainly influence on the usability of the software. Such options are the Range <strong>and</strong>Y-limit values of the ECG <strong>and</strong> RR interval axes, the RR series display mode button, Y-limit options for the power spectra, <strong>and</strong> time-varying results display mode button, colormap selection, <strong>and</strong> displayed variable selections. The values of these options are preservedin memory <strong>and</strong>, thus, any changes made to them will be applied in the future sessions. Alsothe preference directories path from where the data file is searched for <strong>and</strong> in which theresults are saved are preserved in memory. The last nine opened data files will also appearin the File menu of the user interface <strong>and</strong> can be reopened from there.All the preferences <strong>and</strong> preserved options used by the software are saved in HRV2 folderlocated in the user specific Application Data folder 1 . The preference files are found fromthe folderC:\Documents <strong>and</strong> Settings\\Application Data\HRV2where is the name of your user profile. The folder will include three files:hrv_pref.dat, user_pref.dat,<strong>and</strong>HRVprefs.mat. Thehrv_pref.dat file includes all thepreferences for the analysis options, user_pref.dat includes the user information preferences,<strong>and</strong> HRVprefs.mat all the preferences related to the usability of the software. Thesefiles are created when the software is started for the first time <strong>and</strong> they will be updatedwhenever the preference values are edited.
