Progressive Scores All Stars above 85(Semester 2 – 2012)Student’s effort, behaviour, organisation and academic achievement is tracked through progress reports. Each semester you get a progressreport mid-term and end of term. For each subject the scores are tallied and averaged. We then calculate the Progress Score.Each area of the report is allocated a score based on the level of performance as follows:Excellent- 100, Very Good- 70, Acceptable- 50, Needs Attention- 0, NA- Not Assessed (Does not affect the Progress score)The highest possible score of 100 would be achieved by a student who is rated ‘Excellent’ in every area in every subject.Students listed below have an progress score of 85 or above. DSC Uniform2013All Yr 7 – Yr 11 students should be wearing thefollowing updated uniform items in 2013:Girls: dresses, shorts, pants & shirts.Boys: pants & shorts, shirts.By the start of 2014 these items will changeover to the new uniform:woollen jumper, spray jacket and girl’swinter skirt.So by 2014 all students should be wearing thecomplete new uniform.If your child hasn’t changed over to thenew uniform yet ….Please contact Deb Gentle or Anne Wilson at the<strong>College</strong> to discuss this.Arrangements need to be put in place for thistransition and to ensure your child does not incurdetentions.Assistance with cost:Lay-by is available at the Uniform Shop. Uniformcan be put aside and paid off gradually. This isflexible to suit your needs.Parents who have a current payment plan, or whowould like to start a payment plan, can apply tothe DSC Business Manager for a Uniform CreditNote. SOSE class text, Legal Studies class text, Science classtext. VCE students may also choose to bring reading material fromnewspapers that is relevant to their studies.Assessment will take place during SURFF – this will be forwardedto the English teachers to include in students’ reports.Please support your child(ren) by encouraging them to be preparedfor reading, to have a positive attitude towards SURFF and to readregularly at home. LAST CALLNew Caledonia 2013It’s almost too late! This is your last chance to sign your childup for the New Caledonia trip!It’s in September this year and it’s an excellent opportunity for students ofFrench to use the language in real-life situations. They’ll participate in intensivelanguage classes and perform tasks designed to get them using the languagein authentic situations. In addition to these benefits, pre-trip preparation classesand post-trip evaluation classes will be provided to prepare the students forand capitalise on the learning potential of being in such an environment.Students returning from this trip will perform much better in their French classesand in external exams, as well as exhibiting higher confidence with theirwritten and oral French, and their studies of LOTE in general. During their stay,students will have the chance to tour both the city of Nouméa and surroundingcountryside, getting to know the people and the culture.The estimated cost of the eight-day trip is between $1890 and $2350.
