Ongo<strong>in</strong>g - improv<strong>in</strong>g ophthalmic standards<strong>Tullow</strong> is Partnered with Sightsavers Internationaland the M<strong>in</strong>istry of Health.River Bl<strong>in</strong>dness Programme• Raises awareness of bl<strong>in</strong>dness and treatment programmeamongst local communities• Distributors and community health workers tra<strong>in</strong>ed to takeon responsibilities of eye health education and the detectionand referral of eye disease with<strong>in</strong> their communities• Controlled distribution of Mectizan® tablets which are usedto control the condition and prevent bl<strong>in</strong>dnessTra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Ophthalmic Nurses• <strong>Tullow</strong> fund<strong>in</strong>g permits experienced nurses to receive ayear’s specialist ophthalmic tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g.
