Applicable standards established by the City of Berkeley and the City of Oakland aresummarized as follows:City of Berkeley Community Noise OrdinanceConstruction noise and vibration in Berkeley is regulated in the Municipal Code as follows:Section 13.40.070, Prohibited Acts7a. Operating or causing the operation of any tools or equipment used in construction,drilling, repair, alteration, or demolition work between weekday hours of seven p.m.and seven a.m., or eight p.m. and nine a.m. on weekends or holidays such that thesound there from creates a noise disturbance across a residential or commercial realproperty line, except for emergency work of public service utilities or by varianceissued by the NCO. (This section shall not apply to the use of domestic power toolsas specified in Section 13.40.070, subsection B.11.)7b. Noise restrictions at affected properties. Where technically and economicallyfeasible, construction activities shall be conducted in such a manner that themaximum sound levels at affected properties will not exceed those listed in thefollowing schedule:9
