Green Star Design & As Built Technical Advisory Group and Expert Reference Panel Terms of ReferenceThe involvement of the TAG and ERP will assist us to:• Develop a rating tool that addresses the key sustainability attributes relevant to the design andconstruction of buildings;• Develop a simple, easy to use rating tool that will allow the owners and developers of newlydesigned and constructed buildings and those undertaking major refurbishments to achieve aGreen Star rating that is aligned with world’s best practice;• Develop a rating tool that supports and facilitates ongoing transformation of the market towardsthe achievement of better environmental outcomes for the design and construction of allbuildings types (with the exception of Building Code of Australia Class 1a defined resi<strong>den</strong>tialdwellings);• Develop a rating tool that rewards design and construction achievements that exceed standardpractice for sustainability; and• Develop a rating tool that rewards market leadership in holistic sustainable building design andconstruction.YOUR ROLE AS A MEMBER OF THE TAGAs a member of the TAG, you will participate in the development of the next generation Green Starrating tool for design and construction by:• Actively participating in weekly or fortnightly TAG consultation cycles through the timelyprovision of comments and feedback via email;• Joining at least one TAG subgroup and reviewing or assisting in the development of credits forGreen Star categories in line with your technical background or expertise;• Reviewing and providing comment on the pilot rating tool prior to its release; and• Reporting to the Green Star Development Manager as required on matters relating to the ratingtool and its application.Eight TAG members will also be selected to Chair one of the eight Green Star category subgroups.These Subgroup Chairs will be required to perform additional tasks, including:• Chair the subgroup and assist us in obtaining timely feedback and advice from subgroupmembers;• Monitor the progress of the subgroup against a project plan;• Where necessary, i<strong>den</strong>tify gaps in the skills or knowledge of the subgroup and providerecommendations to the GBCA on additional technical expertise or support requirements;• Seek decisions from the subgroup through rigorous debate and simple majority resolution (viaemail and/or phone calls); and• Monitor and i<strong>den</strong>tify potential personal, commercial (or other) conflicts of interest of TAGmembers - it is the Subgroup Chair’s responsibility to ensure anyone with such a conflict doesnot participate in any decision-making or other proceedings of the subgroup.3
