Price List and Additional InformationFrequentlyAskedQuestionsCan a swimming gogglebe corrected for swimmingunderwater?We would normally only supply withthe patient’s normal IN AIR prescription.The purpose of a corrective swimminggoggle is, after all, to be able to movearound pool side and be aware ofobstacles and other swimmers on thesurface. With positive corrections,however, it is possible to place theconvex surface back towards theeye, with a flatter curve towards thefront. This will help with correctionunderwater and could be important tocompetition swimmers when makingtheir turns underwater at the endof the lane. This will require specialsurfacing at an additional cost.SPORTS PRESCRIPTIONEYEWEARPrice List 2011Which lens material should be usedin goggles for racket sports?The answer is polycarbonate. In thecase of squash there is a standardBS7930-1 and the use of polycarbonateis mandatory to meet its requirements.Where a goggle is supplied withan Rx insert (eg. the Power Pro) theprescription can be glazed in CR39 asthe front shield is supplied as standardin polycarbonate.Can a diving mask be corrected forboth distance and reading Rx?Yes. Using the custom bonded methodwe can fit both distance and readingsegments to the Barracuda. This can bedone in both positive and negative Rx -but there is an additional charge.Can swimming goggles be tinted?Yes. As CR39 is supplied to swimminggoggles (excluding Aquasee) we canadd a tint.What about UV protection?All of our sports shield products usepolycarbonate, therefore block 98%of ultra violet up to 400nm. Wherethe full ocular is being glazed withpolycarbonate Rx lenses, this is alsothe case.
