Library and Information ServicesThe <strong>IGIDR</strong> library is rapidly building up to be one <strong>of</strong> theleading pr<strong>of</strong>essional research and reference libraries in thecountry. All bibliographic details <strong>of</strong> books, journals and CD-ROM databases are accessible through the campus-wideEthernet network. The institute library also has an account with BLDS under GDNETprogramme to meet its inter-library loan requirements.The library homepage provides links to various websites, which are <strong>of</strong> importance to economists. Access toelectronic journals, union catalogue <strong>of</strong> periodicals, library catalogue, journal holdings, current journals, etc havealso been provided from this homepage. The recent inclusion on ‘Indian Economy’ provides links to variousInternet resources related to Indian economy.<strong>IGIDR</strong> library has developed an online Union catalogue <strong>of</strong> journal holdings, the data for which comes from 18major Business and Economics libraries <strong>of</strong> the country. The catalogue has provided a platform for sharing resourcesamong libraries.We have given due consideration to the most modern approach in the field <strong>of</strong> librarianship. The Electronic Libraryis about to bloom with an initial collection <strong>of</strong> 2500 documents and is accessible through the campus network. TheElectronic library aims to collect articles, discussion/working papers, books, etc, which are available in publicdomain. It also intends to have in its collection the entire thesis submitted to the institute by M.Phil and PhDstudents.
