Library and Information ServicesThe IGIDR library is rapidly building up to be one of theleading professional research and reference libraries in thecountry. All bibliographic details of books, journals and CD-ROM databases are accessible through the campus-wideEthernet network. The library has over 86595 printeddocuments and it subscribes to over 460 national andinternational journals.Some of the important CD-ROM databases subscribed by thelibrary are:ComtradeEconlitEPW Annual Survey of IndustriesEPW State Domestic ProductsGlobal Finance DevelopmentIMF StatisticsIndiastat.comIndia Trades (CMIE)International Financial StatisticsJSTORSocial Science Citation Index, 1997World Development IndicatorsUNIDO Industrial StatisticsIt has established contacts with over 100 national and international organisations for exchange of the Institute‘spublications and inter-library loan arrangement. The institute library also has an account with BLDS under GDNETprogramme to meet its inter-library loan requirements.The library homepage provides links to various websites, which are of importance to economists. Access toelectronic journals, union catalogue of periodicals, library catalogue, journal holdings, current journals, etc havealso been provided from this homepage. The recent inclusion on ‘Indian Economy’ provides links to variousInternet resources related to Indian economy.IGIDR library has developed an online Union catalogue of journal holdings, the data for which comes from 18major Business and Economics libraries of the country. The catalogue has provided a platform for sharing resourcesamong libraries.We have given due consideration to the most modern approach in the field of librarianship. The Electronic Libraryis about to bloom with an initial collection of 2500 documents and is accessible through the campus network. TheElectronic library aims to collect articles, discussion/working papers, books, etc, which are available in publicdomain. It also intends to have in its collection the entire thesis submitted to the institute by M.Phil and PhDstudents.
