In a one room shop under the oak trees of East Texas, Marvin Priefert,a former Nebraska wheat farmer and inventor, built a headgate forhis neighbor. Manual/Automatic (HG91)No other product invented by the Priefert family has had more of an impact onthe cattle industry than our full front-opening headgate. In 1964 there were veryfew headgates on the market, the most popular being the guillotine style. Ourfounder, Marvin Priefert, had a neighbor buy one of these styles of headgatesand saw him struggle each time he used it. Marvin, a young inventor withseveral patents to his name, knew there must be a better way and set off tobuild a better mouse trap.
