A principal target of SP6 is to promote knowledge, stimulate debate and reach consensus -
Europe wide- on the URBANTRACK concepts, methodologies, tools and recommendations
developed by the project at different stages of definition throughout the entire project duration.
In order to achieve these objectives, two types of networks were put in place, one of operators
managed by UITP, the other of suppliers by UINFE.
In order to extend the consensus building process beyond the operators who are direct
Consortium members, an URBANTRACK Network of Operators of Metro and Light Rail, led
by UITP, has been created. SP6 is the subproject within URBANTRACK created in order to
manage this Group.
To increase industry involvement, currently limited to one major supplier and a few small-
medium sized companies, an URBANTRACK Network of Industries led by UNIFE, is in the
process of being created.
This Report presents the constitution of the Network of Operators, the results of the starting
meetings, the subcontract as well as the method of work and the status of the working plan to
be developed by the Networks during the project lifetime. It also presents the current status of
the Network of Industries (not yet commenced), plans for meetings, proposed constitution,
subcontracting details and work plan for the project’s duration.
