The third meeting of the Network of Operators took place in Cologne on the 29 th of April 2008.<br />

Seven members of the Network and three operator members of the Consortium were present:<br />

The following issues were presented and discussed:<br />

– Low cost modular new <strong>track</strong> systems and fast installation methods in particular<br />

REMS, artificial grass <strong>track</strong>, super elastic fixation and Ix-MOdulix and RE-MOdulix<br />

– The possible draft for a standard in inspection and maintenance<br />

– The optimal maintenance methodology related mainly to corrugation data<br />

processing and the maintenance modelling<br />

– Preventive maintenance of embedded tram <strong>track</strong>s<br />

– Demonstration of the calculation tool for LCC that is currently under development.<br />

Two technical visits were included in the 3 rd meeting. The Network of Operators visited the<br />

Cologne light rail tunnel currently under construction hosted by KVB (Cologne operator). The<br />

other one to the STUVA test <strong>track</strong>s installations for the URBANTRACK project.
