I look forward to showing you aroundyour new school. A bus will pick you up fromyour current school at 9.00am and deliver youback at 10.30am. Parents/caregivers are verywelcome to accompany their child.Pupils from Awapuni and Somerset <strong>School</strong> willhave the same orientation on Tuesday 29November.PRINCIPAL’S APPRAISALOur Board of Trustees would like to have all<strong>Monrad</strong>’s stakeholders have input in to howthey feel your Principal is performing.Pupils had their say through a questionnaireyesterday. Staff at the school responded onTuesday and Wednesday of this week. Now Iwould like to get the opinions of your, ourparents and caregivers.Staff will randomly select 25% of the school rolland send to you a sheet with a number ofstatements which you are asked to rate thePrincipal’s performance on. Also included willbe a stamped return envelope for you to be ableto return your appraisal.Office staff will collate all returns and presentyour responses to our Board of TrusteesPRIZE GIVING AND FINAL ASSEMBLYOur end of year prize giving (academic andsporting) will be in our school hall onWednesday 14 December starting at 10.30 andrunning through to midday. There will be thepresentation of academic and sporting awards,speeches, waiata, singing, band and choir.There will be extra seating for around 200people so family members/whanau are warmlyinvited to attend.<strong>School</strong> will finish for the day at he end of theprizegiving.FINAL ASSEMBLYThis will be held in our school hall on Thursday15 December at 11.00. I am hoping to have aclosing ceremony and it will finish withdeparting Year 8s and staff being piped fromthe Hall around midday. The piping out willmark the end of the 2011 school year.FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL JEANETTEGIBBSHONESTY is an important virtue. At <strong>Monrad</strong>we encourage everyone to be truthful andtactful. “say what you mean and mean what yousay”. If you make a mistake, admit it and fix it.STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS – HOTLUNCHES - the two hot lunches were a hugesuccess. We may provide a hot lunch one moretime before the end of term.STUDENT SOCIAL – Thursday 1 December7-8.30pm. Permission slips will be in the nextnewsletter.MUFTI DAY yesterday raised $265.STU DUVAL – Stu Duval is a well-knownstoryteller, writer and artist. He performed forus this afternoon. Stu’s cost was subsidised bythe Student Council but all students areexpected to pay $3 for this treat.SWIMMING – swimming lessons have beengoing extremely well. We have a break now untilthe last round of lessons in week 7, 5-8
