The Mission of the <strong>YWCA</strong> <strong>USA</strong>The <strong>YWCA</strong> of the <strong>USA</strong> is a women’s membership movement nourished by its roots in the Christianfaith and sustained by the richness of many beliefs and values. Strengthened by diversity, the Associationdraws together members who strive to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership and power inorder to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people.The Association will thrust its collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists andby any means necessary.The Local Purpose of the <strong>YWCA</strong> Eastern Union CountyThe <strong>YWCA</strong> Eastern Union County seeks to create an environment through which women empowerthemselves and work to lead non-violent lives. message from the president of the board of directorsOn Behalf of the Board of Directors and the Staff Members of the <strong>YWCA</strong> ofEastern Union County (<strong>YWCA</strong>-ECU) I am pleased to present this Annual Reportfor the fiscal year <strong>2007</strong>.The year <strong>2007</strong> has been a year filled with challenges as well as growth for the organization,both in terms of staff and programs. We have a staff that is professionallycompetent and dedicated to providing the best possible services to our clients. Wehave increased our capacity to provide more of a continuum of care for batteredwomen and their children. We have expanded our counseling services and are inthe midst of making plans for retro fitting our offices in Elizabeth. We continue towork with our development professional in expanding our base of support to theprivate sector and other funding sources.I am honored to work with the staff of <strong>YWCA</strong>-EUC and the greater communityof Eastern Union County in helping to shape the programs and services that weprovide for women and their children who have been touched by the tragedy ofdomestic violence. We hope that our programs will serve as a vehicle for empoweringwomen in order to stop this vicious cycle. We continue to search for innovativeand systemic ways to fulfill our mission of eliminating racism and empoweringwomen. Your support as donors, both monetary and as volunteers, is crucial in thisendeavor.To our donors listed in this <strong>report</strong>, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
