This allows traffi c from a singlenetwork link to be replicated to multipletools with only relevant fl ows sent toeach tool allowing the delivery of the rightinformation to the right tool at the righttime to avoid unnecessary tool load and tomaintain optimal performance.Source Port TaggingnGenius 3900 series switch providessource port tagging capability on aper-port basis to allow monitoring toolsto accurately detect the origin of themonitored traffi c, increasing the reliabilityof analysis. When activated, all incomingpackets are tagged to mark the receiveport without affecting packet contentintegrity or causing switch performancedegradations. Source port tags are alsodetected by the nGeniusONE Unifi edPerformance Management platform tostreamline and simplify the reporting andvisualization of monitored traffi c.Common Interface ModulesThe nGenius 3900 switches leverage aconsistent architectural foundation thatallows common interface modules to beleveraged across the entire chassis series.This allows system architects to bettermanage acquisition cost by investingin a single flexible module that can bedeployed or redeployed across the fullseries of chassis to support small to largesites. This simplifies chassis confi guration,streamlines purchasing requirementsand reduces the cost and complexityassociated with sparing requirements.Interface FlexibilityThe nGenius 3900 series interfacemodules are built for deployment versatilityby offering fl exible support for 1, 10, and40 GbE connectivity from a single module.The nGenius 3900 series interface modulefeatures FlexPorts that support multispeedoperation for complete deploymentfl exibility. Each module contains 32FlexPorts that can be activated as 1 GbEconnections using SFP transceivers,or 10 GbE connections using SFP+transceivers. Another additional groupof specialized high-speed FlexPorts+support either 4 Ports of 40 GbE or 16ports of 10 GbE using a QSFP breakoutcable. The optionalnGenius PFS Management softwareprovides end-to-end unified managementand provisioning of the nGenius 3900series switch, enabling administratorsto rapidly build, store, schedule, andexecute configuration changes andsoftware updates across all deployedswitches regardless of their location. Theunified management platform is idealfor controlling multi-switch monitoringfabrics comprised of hundreds, growingto thousands of ports across differentgeographic locations. Automatedprovisioning allows administrators toidentify the specific end-points of a neededconnection, and the management systemautomatically performs cross-chassisprovisioning defining bandwidth guaranteesas needed. Multi-switch administrationenables the configuration of packet-flowfilters, port speeds, and other configurationparameters, and provides status monitoringfor all switches in the fabric. nGenius PFSManagement software supports an optionalstandby server for redundant operations.The active and standby servers are statesynchronized allowing hitless failoverto the standby server without loss ofconfiguration.Anywhere access to the nGenius PFSManagement software is supported througha standard web browser. Whether usingthe local management access of switch orthe nGenius PFS Management software,secure system access provides userauthentication and supports multiple teamswith role-based access and user-basedactivity logging.
