Michael C. Iannuzzi, MD, MBA, Chair, Department of Medicine, was namedEdward C. Reifenstein Professor of Medicine. Reifenstein (1880-1970), for whom theprofessorship is named, was a widely known physician and organizer of the firstcardiac clinic at Upstate Medical Center. He was a practicing physician for 64 yearsand held faculty positions for four decades.Peter Kane, MD, Anesthesiology, received the NYSSA 2009 Distinguished ServiceAward.Peter Mariani, MD, Emergency Medicine, received the annual "Unsung Hero Award"from Hospice of CNY on Tues., 11/17/09 for his work with ultrasound-guidedpalliative procedures for home care hospice patients.Peter Mariani MD, Emergency Medicine, became ABMS-certified in HyperbaricMedicine in December 2009. His score on the national hyperbaric board examinationachieved a 95th percentile ranking among candidates.Arnold M. Moses, MD, Medicine, was given The Distinguished Alumnus Award ofthe SUNY Upstate Medical University College of Medicine at the October 2009reunion.Jamie Nelsen, PharmD, DABAT, Emergency Medicine, was featured on theAmerican College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) website in recognition of hercontributions to ACCP and the profession of pharmacy in Jan. 2010.Michael Ratner, MD, Surgery, received the Best Doctors 2009 award, and was theHonoree at the annual Ronald McDonald House Charities Dinner, Oct.2009.Robert K. Silverman, MD, Obstetrics & Gynecology, has received the 2009 JuniorFellow Professor of the Year award from the American College of Obstetricians andGynecologists District 11 Junior Fellows. The award is given each year to New YorkState’s outstanding professor who provides unsurpassed support and education toDistrict 11 junior fellows.Janet Sobczak, PhD, PMHCNS-BC, RN, College of Nursing, had two articles (seePublications) that were featured in MDLinx.
