Chapter SevenConclusion7.1 IntroductionThe previous chapters of this thesis have conducted a historical analysis, literaryanalysis and an examination of the theological motifs of Matthew 6:19-34. Thereason for this is that an understanding of the above have contributed to an overallunderstanding of Matthew 6:19-34 and have proved essential in addressing the mainproblem of this thesis.This chapter will accomplish the following tasks. Firstly, there will be a synthesis ofthe findings of the previous chapters in order to address the main problem of thethesis. Included in this will be suggestions as to the application of the findings. Asstated in chapter one exegesis won’t be considered complete until there is practicalapplication. Secondly, there will be an assessment of the hypothesis, and finallythere will be suggestions as to future areas of research.7.2 Synthesis of the ResearchThe synthesis of findings to clarify the main problem will be explored under thefollowing headings• Money as a Rival God• The accumulation of wealth• Stewardship of Money as a community affair90
