8th <strong>UMT</strong> Boys Table Tennis ChampionshipTable tennis is a popular indoor game that dem<strong>and</strong>s quick reactions <strong>and</strong>agility from the players. The <strong>UMT</strong> Sports Club organized the 8 th <strong>UMT</strong>Boys Table Tennis Championship 2010. The event, popularly referred toas 'Racket Champ', was held from <strong>January</strong> 5-7, 2010 in the boys' commonroom. A large number <strong>of</strong> participants took part in the event.The championship was won by Wajaht Ali Khan (BBA-H) whileSalman Ali (MBA-P) was the runner up. The third position went to SyedAbdullah Abbas (BS TEL). The <strong>UMT</strong> football teamplayed a practice football match against the Minhaj <strong>University</strong> team on<strong>January</strong> 01, 2010 at the <strong>UMT</strong> Football ground.5th <strong>UMT</strong> Girls BadmintonChampionship 2009The 5th <strong>UMT</strong> Girls Badminton Championship 2009 was organized by theGirls Sports Wing (GSW) on December 19, 2009 at the <strong>UMT</strong> BadmintonNorth Court. Quite a few female participants took part in the event asbadminton is a sport that is popular among females as well. Anum Yaseen(073605-132 BBA-H) was the winner <strong>of</strong> the championship whileHamnah Butt (073605-117 BBA-H) was the runner-up.The Girls Sports Wing (GSW) has been set up exclusively to encouragefemale participation in sports activities organized by OPA. The rationalefor setting up GSW is to have a student body that would represent theinterests <strong>of</strong> female participants who want to take part in sports events on aregular basis or those who require guidance in such matters.Competing teams fight it out for a win during the matchThe match was supervised by Muhammad Saleem Akhtar, AssistantManager Sports, <strong>and</strong> Member <strong>of</strong> the Punjab Football Referees Association.The home team won the match by 4-0.
