Mullins built a strawman bydescribing the “Bible-thumper’s” message as saying “thateverything physical is evil and the only good things arespiritual things.” I don’t know any believer who says thateverything physical is evil. e things of the world whichGod made are not evil, but when man takes those things anduses them for evil purposes, they become evil. A guitar or adrum or a piano are not evil in themselves, but when they areused licentiously to stir up sensual passions, they are beingused in an evil manner. e Bible plainly says that this worldis fallen and under the domination of sinful men anddemons, and God’s people are to separate from the evil thingsof this world. e Bible makes a sharp distinction betweenthe holy and the profane (Ezek. 22:26), between the worldand God (James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17).
