Speaking atIndianapolis ’90, Forrest said he praises God for purgatory.Cantalamessa was the papal preacher at the Vatican.Ranaghan claims that the Roman Catholic Church alonecontains the fullness <strong>of</strong> God and truth and that the pope isthe infallible head <strong>of</strong> all churches. Hayford put his stamp <strong>of</strong>approval upon these men’s heresies and became partaker <strong>of</strong>their sins by appearing with them and treating them as if theywere true men <strong>of</strong> God.Hayford is on the Board <strong>of</strong> Regents for MelodylandChristian Center, which has a close relationship with RomanCatholicism. A fellow board member is Roman Catholic FredLadenius, author <strong>of</strong> Amazing John XXIII, a book fullysupportive <strong>of</strong> the pope by that name, a pope who died with aRosary in his hand and prayers to Mary and Catholic “saints”on his lips.Hayford also has a close relationship with heretic RobertSchuller. He spoke at Schuller’s Men’s Conference at theCrystal Cathedral in March 1995 and in January 2005 andendorsed Schuller’s 1996 autobiography, My Soul’s Adventurewith God. In 1982, Schuller published Self-Esteem the NewReformation in which he twisted Bible theology to conform tohis humanistic psychology. According to Schuller, sin is “anyact or thought that robs myself or another human being <strong>of</strong> hisor her self-esteem” (Self-Esteem: e New Reformation, p. 14).Schuller’s christ is “self-esteem incarnate” (p. 135). His newbirth is to be “changed from a negative to a positive selfimage”(p. 68). His hell “is the loss <strong>of</strong> pride that naturallyfollows separation from God” (p. 14). To Schuller, the mostdestructive thing is to call men lost sinners and thereby injuretheir self-esteem (Christianity Today, Oct. 5, 1984). Schuller is165
