they will think merely that some sort of God (Grant neverdefines him) will work everything out for them somehow inthe end. is is not true, though. e only way God is goingto work things out for individual sinners and the only way Hereaches out to them is through the gospel of Jesus Christ. InChrist and in Christ alone are the answers, and one must beborn again to find them. Any “hope” outside of this is a falsehope. Anyone can find comfort in Amy Grant’s music: theNew Ager, the Hindu, the Mormon, the baptismalregenerationist, the lover of e Shack god/goddess, anyone. Her music is that vague.Note the following unscriptural message in the song “Turnthe World Around” from the Behind the Eyes album:“We’re all the same it seems/ Behind the eyes/ Broken promisesand dreams/ In good disguise/ All we’re really looking for issomewhere/ Safe and warm/ e shelter of each other in thestorm. Chorus: Maybe one day/ We can turn and face ourfears/ Maybe one day/ We can reach out through our tears/Aer all it’s really not that far/ To where hope can be found.”It is unconscionable for a Christian to sing to the unsavedabout “hope,” about searching for a shelter from the storms oflife, without giving them a clear presentation of the gospel.e unsaved have absolutely no hope apart from salvation inthe Lord Jesus Christ. e destiny of every person apart fromJesus Christ is eternal Hell. Instead of presenting the gospel,Amy Grant gives a hazy message about reaching out for somemystical hope in a place that is not far away. What place? How does a person reach it? Not only is Amy’s gospel hazy--itis false. Is hope gained by turning and facing our fears? Sheleaves her listeners with this unscriptural impression.By communicating a vague gospel Amy Grant is actuallycommunicating a false gospel. Some of the songs on Behind the Eyes focus onhumanitarian themes, but not from a biblical perspective. esong “Turn is World Around” is about the plight of thehomeless in America, but it does not explain to the hearers148
