62 Operating Locomotive Equipment62.11 Changing Operating EndsChange operating ends on a locomotive consist by cutting out theoperating controls on the controlling end of the locomotive consistand proceeding immediately to the opposite end of the locomotiveconsist and restoring control.62.11.1 Cutting Out Operating ControlsTo cut out operating controls, use the following procedure:1. Move the reverser handle to NEUTRAL and remove it.2. Place the generator field switch in the OFF position.3. Verify that the independent brake valve handle is in FULLAPPLICATION.4. Make a full service brake pipe reduction with the automaticbrake valve.5. Wait for the automatic brake valve to finish exhausting.6. Rotate the automatic brake valve cutout valve to the OUTposition.7. Move the automatic brake valve handle to CONTINUOUSSERVICE and remove it. Place the handle in the proper holder.8.
