62 Operating Locomotive Equipment62.11 Changing Operating EndsChange operating ends on a locomotive consist by cutting out theoperating controls on the controlling end of the locomotive consist<strong>and</strong> proceeding immediately to the opposite end of the locomotiveconsist <strong>and</strong> restoring control.62.11.1 Cutting Out Operating ControlsTo cut out operating controls, use the following procedure:1. Move the reverser h<strong>and</strong>le to NEUTRAL <strong>and</strong> remove it.2. Place the generator field switch in the OFF position.3. Verify that the independent brake valve h<strong>and</strong>le is in FULLAPPLICATION.4. Make a full service brake pipe reduction with the automaticbrake valve.5. Wait for the automatic brake valve to finish exhausting.6. Rotate the automatic brake valve cutout valve to the OUTposition.7. Move the automatic brake valve h<strong>and</strong>le to CONTINUOUSSERVICE <strong>and</strong> remove it. Place the h<strong>and</strong>le in the proper holder.8. Rotate the MU-2A valve to TRAIL.9. Move the independent brake valve h<strong>and</strong>le to RELEASE <strong>and</strong>remove it.
