68 EOT Telemetry DevicesA. Mounting the Small EOT UnitFollow these precautions when mounting the small EOT unit on thetrailing coupler of the last car:1. Make sure the EOT unit is securely fastened to the knuckle.2. Make sure the angle cock on the last car is open.B. Battery CompartmentThe battery compartment of the small EOT unit has three components:• Marker light• <strong>Air</strong> gauge• Battery storage compartment68.7.3 Operating the Digitair EOT UnitSince the EOT unit functions automatically, it does not need to bedirectly operated during use. However, the EOT should be checkedafter installation.A. Inspecting the EOT UnitFollow these steps to inspect the EOT unit:1. Make sure the EOT unit is mounted securely to the coupler <strong>and</strong>cannot be damaged by car-mounted equipment, such as swingingchains or air hoses.2. Make sure the angle cock on the last car is open.B. Underst<strong>and</strong>ing Beeper OperationThe internal beeper on the EOT unit functions as follows:• When the EOT unit is turned on, the beeper beeps once persecond.
