Managing the Coupling FacilityCFRM PolicyTo set up the CFRM policy, the systems programmer must know whichsubsystems and applications in the installation will use the Coupling Facility andthe structure requirements of each.Using the IBM utility program IXCMIAPU, define the CFRM policy to:■■■■Identify each Coupling Facility and each structure.Specify the size of each structure. The structure size will initially be allocatedat the INITSIZE you specify. The maximum size of the structure is definedby SIZE. Use the TSSFAR utility to run a TSSFAR ACIDCHAN report, whichwill recommend the XES structure size. You can use this to help determinethe structure size you want to specify in the CFRM policy. Otherconsiderations are discussed in the IBM guide MVS Setting Up a Sysplex.Specify the preference list (PRELIST), which is an ordered list of CouplingFacility names in which the structure can be allocated.Specify an exclusion list of structures that are not to be allocated in the sameCoupling Facility as the structure.Every application specifies the required structure types, as well as the name andsize of the structure or structures it uses. eTrust CA-Top Secret uses the SYSPLEXcontrol option to provide this information. For details on the SYSPLEX controloption, see the Control Options Guide. For further information regarding the CFRM policy, see the IBM guide MVSSetting Up a Sysplex.Altering the Coupling Facility Structure SizeeTrust CA-Top Secret supports dynamic system-managed resizing or rebuildingof the Coupling Facility structure. You can use the SECXCF OS/390 operatorcommand to increase the Coupling Facility structure size with no disruption tothe connected systems.Use the following command to increase the structure size up to the SIZE value, which is the maximum size defined in the active Coupling Facility resourcemanagement (CFRM) policy:SETXCF START,ALTER,STRNAME=strname,SIZE=nnnHowever, if the optional initial size (INITSIZE) value was not specified in theCFRM policy, the structure size cannot be increased. In this case, the structurewould have been initially allocated based on the maximum SIZE value, ratherthan the INITSIZE. If the structure is already at the maximum size specified inthe CFRM policy, the CFRM must be modified to allow a larger structure sizeusing the SETXCF START, REBUILD command.Using the Sysplex Coupling Facility 3–7
