Chapter3Using the Sysplex Coupling FacilityeTrust CA-Top Secret takes advantage of two functions that the Coupling Facilityoffers:■■XES Data Sharing FunctioneTrust CA-Top Secret uses this feature to provide the ability to share SecurityFile records for all eTrust CA-Top Secret systems throughout the sysplex.XCF FunctioneTrust CA-Top Secret uses this feature as a message router that allows thecommunication of eTrust CA-Top Secret security information betweensystems in the sysplex environment. It allows the propagation of commandsissued on one system to all the other connected systems. XCF can be activewhen XES is not.The SYSPLEX XES FunctionThe XES data sharing feature lets you define structures in the sysplex thatmultiple systems can use. These structures contain data (a Security File for eTrustCA-Top Secret) to be shared among the systems in the sysplex. Once the data hasbeen placed in a structure it is valid to be read, updated, or deleted by anysystem connected to that structure. It is the responsibility of the systemsprogrammer to define the structure-name to the Coupling Facility. Thisstructure-name is then defined to eTrust CA-Top Secret as the repository of theshared Security File.Note: A second structure can be defined for recovery purposes. This alternatestructure is used in case the primary structure has faltered for any reason. Thisalternate structure is not mandatory, but can be used if desired and is alsodefined to eTrust CA-Top Secret.Using the Sysplex Coupling Facility 3–1
