Chapter1Implementing <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong><strong>Secret</strong> in a z/<strong>OS</strong> or <strong>OS</strong>/390Environment<strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong>® <strong>Security</strong> <strong>for</strong> z/<strong>OS</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>OS</strong>/390 (<strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong>)protects in<strong>for</strong>mation systems <strong>and</strong> the data they manage from unauthorizeddisclosure, modification, <strong>and</strong> destruction. Since its inception, <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong><strong>Secret</strong> has maintained leadership in the <strong>OS</strong>/390 marketplace through aggressivedelivery of new releases, high-quality technical support services, <strong>and</strong> adapting tothe ever-changing mainframe marketplace.The initial release of <strong>OS</strong>/390 provided an installation vehicle that packagedtogether the products that you normally selected when building your baseoperating system (ESA 5.2.2 <strong>and</strong> major subsystems such as VTAM, Data FacilityProduct, Open Edition <strong>and</strong> JES). With each new release of z/<strong>OS</strong>, additionalcomponents have been added. Each component is tested together, providing ahigher level of quality assurance. In addition, this methodology also af<strong>for</strong>ds<strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong> a more supportable environment.As each new release of z/<strong>OS</strong> is made available, <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong> providesfull support of new features. The required maintenance <strong>and</strong> administrativechanges are fully documented in the product in<strong>for</strong>mational solutions (seeUpgrade Solutions section of this document). The majority of changes to z/<strong>OS</strong>,which affect security, are related to UNIX System Services <strong>and</strong> the couplingfacility. This document discusses these topics in detail. Traditional security taskssuch as CICS <strong>and</strong> data set protection are largely unaffected by z/<strong>OS</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>OS</strong>/390<strong>and</strong> are covered in the st<strong>and</strong>ard <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong> documentation.This cookbook provides a "how to" guide <strong>for</strong> implementing <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong><strong>Secret</strong> in a UNIX System Services z/<strong>OS</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>OS</strong>/390 environment.The administrative comm<strong>and</strong>s used in this book are also included in Appendix A<strong>and</strong> in <strong>CA</strong>I.SAMPJCL (IMVSECUR, WASADM) on the <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong>maintenance tape.Implementing <strong>eTrust</strong> <strong>CA</strong>-<strong>Top</strong> <strong>Secret</strong> in a z/<strong>OS</strong> or <strong>OS</strong>/390 Environment 1–1
