I want to thank the Peoria Camera Club for hosting my talk and tothank everyone who braved the weather to come out.As a follow up the Peoria Historical Society website collection searchcan be found here:http://www.peoriahistoricalsociety.org/!/collectionsYou can search our images that are on CARLI here:http://collections.carli.illinois.edu/cdm4/index_bra_peoria.php?CISOROOT=/bra_peoriaOur Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/PeoriaHistoricalSociety?fref=tsYou can view our Historypin Channel here: http://www.historypin.com/channels/view/6257182/The Image Permanence Institutes Graphic Atlas for identifying Photo Processes is located here:http://www.graphicsatlas.org/If PCC or anyone is interested in donating photos or other material PHS could always use some good digitalcameras, lens, flashes, lights, large format scanners, computers, medium format cameras (dream big younever know!) contact me at rkillion@peoriahistoricalsociety.org or 309-674-1921.If you are donating photographic material you do not have to give up right to the photos but you do need togive PHS usage rights. Items donated to the collection are shown to a collection committee that makes thefinal determination on whether they are accepted into the collection. When you bring potential donations inyou are given a temporary receipt. After the meeting if the items are accepted you will receive a thank you/tax letter and two copies of a deed of gift for your records. You sign and return one to PHS. Once accepteditems are cataloged and put into the collection. Items are then available online at the links above. Research, library, and archival type items are placed on deposit in a climate controlled vault at Bradley Special Collectionsand are available for researchers. We Have over 1,000 linear feet of material! It is closed stacks andpeople have to get buzzed in, sign in, fill out a research form and the items are brought out to them so thatwe can insure their conservation for future generations. Other items are put on display at our Office, FlanaganHouse, or Pettengill Morron House. We display things whenever we can, bring things out for exhibits, and loan things to the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Peoria Public Library, Wheels O’ Time, Three Sister’s Park ,as well as other organizations. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer at PHS for those who might be interested. One of the primaryways we have documented Peoria in the past are Photographers photographing things before, during, andafter they are torn down and the new is built. We also have many many other opportunities for people witha variety of interest. We have volunteer house guides, trolley guides, researchers, catalogers, people transcribingdocuments, volunteers scan and photograph the collection so we can share it online, and peopledonate carpentry, electrical, and general handyman skills. If you have the skill and the interest PHS is likelyto have a need.Again I enjoyed my time with the Peoria Camera Club. The talk was rather broad as I did not know everyone’sinterest. I would be happy to put together more specific presentations on Old Photographic techniques forexample, and I am open to suggestions.Robert L Killionrkillion@peoriahistoricalsociety.org or 309-674-1921
