Hydrotech Discfilter – 2200-seriesPictures show Hydrotech Discfilters in municipal wastewater treatmentplants for effluent polishing. With it’s large filter area and small footprintthe 2200-series is especially well suited for this application. The HydrotechDiscfilter is also used for filtration of intake water and effluent fromdifferent types of industrial processes.⊲⊲⊲⊲⊲Flow capacity: Up to 400 l/s per filter.Filter opening: 10-100 µm.Filter media is easy to changethanks to new innovative design.Moving backwash system for better cleaning,minimal water use and less wearon filter media.The water to be treated flows by gravityinto the filter segments from the centredrum. Solids catch on the inside of thefilter panels mounted on the two sides ofthe disc segments.⊲⊲As the solids catch on the insideof the filter media impeding theflow of water through the disc,the water level inside the discsbegin to rise, triggering a levelsensor to start the disc to rotateand a backwash cycle begins.High pressure rinse water backsthe solids off the filter media andinto the solids collection trough.Typically the backwash requires1-2% of the total flow and filteredwater is used.Typical applications:⊲ Effluent polishing⊲ Industrial process water⊲ Intake waterHydrotech Discfilter is a woven media filterfor fine solids removal and product recovery.The Discfilter offers a large filterarea in a small footprint.The compact design of theDiscfilter makes this system agood choice for recirculationsystems, effluent polishingof waste water, fine filtrationof intake water orother applications wherea space-saving filterwith fine filter openingsand larger filter area isrequired.In normal operation theDiscfilter is approximately60% submerged and the headloss across the filter media variesbetween 50 and 200 mm. Maximumallowable head loss with thefilter in operation is 300 mm. Backwashand rotation can be continuous or controlledby an automatic level control system.The modular filter panels consistof woven polyester filter mediawhich is held within a stainlesssteel frame. The structureof the Discfilter is as standardfabricated of 304 or316L stainless steel. Forextremely corrosiveenvironments it canalso be made ofspecial alloys.Flexibility is akey word for theHydrotech Discfilter.The patented designof the panels meansthat replacement requiresminimum serviceand downtime. If thereis a change in operatingor performance needs, thedesign also accommodates aneasy switch to a filter media with adifferent size of opening.

Hydrotech Discfilter type HSF2212 forinstallation in a concrete basin.Hydrotech´s moving backwash spray header ensures better cleaning with minimal wateruse and longer life of the filter media.The filter panels are inserted into the slots of the segments. The Hydrotech2200-series new plastic disc design brings considerably lower weight and 50% more filter area per footprint compared to the Hydrotech stainless steelDiscfilters.There is space for up to 24 discs on the largest filter. A filter can be installedwith fewer discs and more being added as flow rate increases.Hydrotech’s patented moving backwash spray header ensures efficientcleaning of the filter media, increased life time of the filter media and 20%savings of rinse water consumption.
