REQUIREMENTS FOR Ao,'hISSION TO UNDERGRADUATE STANDING 67<br />
<strong>Institute</strong> that the candidate has its permission to take his examinations<br />
under the X ew Plan (Plan B).<br />
Each applicant must pass a physical examination showing that<br />
he is able to do the work <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>. These examinations<br />
will be conducted for the <strong>Institute</strong> by the staff <strong>of</strong> the Pasadena<br />
Hospital on September 22-24. If rcports <strong>of</strong> these examinations<br />
are delayed until after registration, it will be understood that<br />
registrations are tcntative pending such rcports, and are subject<br />
to cancellation if the reports are unsatisfactory. Students living<br />
at a distance are advised to consult their family physician before<br />
coming to Pasadena in order to avoid unnecessary expense if<br />
obvious physical defects exist. All students entering the <strong>Institute</strong><br />
for the first time are required to be vaccinated or to submit<br />
satisfactory evidence <strong>of</strong> recent vaccination.<br />
Application for admission to the <strong>Institute</strong> may be made at any<br />
time, but there is a distinct advantage in having it on file by the<br />
first <strong>of</strong> May, or even earlier. This enables the <strong>Institute</strong> to make<br />
full use <strong>of</strong> all information available from high school sources.<br />
Applicants whose preparatory work is complete should submit<br />
certificates <strong>of</strong> recommendation from the principals <strong>of</strong> their high<br />
schools, together with their complete scholastic record before<br />
taking the entrance examinations. Applicants who wish to take<br />
the spring entrance examinations and who have completed their<br />
preparatory work but are not able to secure their scholastic<br />
records before the examinations, will be admitted to the examina··<br />
tions if such a request is received from their principals. Certifi··<br />
cates <strong>of</strong> recommendation and scholarship records <strong>of</strong> students<br />
who have taken the examinations under the above arrangement<br />
should be forwarded to the <strong>Institute</strong> as soon as possible after<br />
the completion <strong>of</strong> the preparatory work.<br />
No decision can be reached as to the admission <strong>of</strong> a student<br />
until his principal's recommendation and his complete scholastic<br />
record are received. Applicants are advised to take the June<br />
30th-July 1st examinations i(possible.
