A study <strong>of</strong> the leading European and British dramatists, from Ibsen<br />

to the writers <strong>of</strong> the present time. Special attention may be given to<br />

new movements in the theatre, to stage decoration and production. Wide<br />

reading <strong>of</strong> plays is required.<br />

<strong>of</strong> view <strong>of</strong> literary interest. Special attention is given to the history <strong>of</strong><br />

the English Bible. Opportunity is <strong>of</strong>fered for reading modern literature<br />

based on Biblical subj ects.<br />

argumentation; systematic practice in debating; preparation for intercollegiate<br />

debates.<br />

for Freshmen, 9 units (1-0-1) in the second term, and 4 units (9-0-9)<br />

in the third term. Lectures on the principles <strong>of</strong> formal logic and the<br />
