Configuration phaseIntroductionGlobal ApproachThis chapter introduces the basic principles needed to understand for properoperation of the software. It then describes the configuration software’s essentialcharacteristics, main functions, and data exchange methods.PROFIBUS DP and PROFIBUS PA provide many powerful, sophisticated softwarefunctions, which allow reductions in the time and effort expended on hardware, helping to increase overall profit. To accomplish this, several software tools eachplay their role, at every stage of the device’s life cycle, from network configuration andPROFIBUS interface setup, to device setup, operation and maintenance. The choice of software tools depends on the architecture chosen and themanufacturers selected to provide the related products. This phase establishes thelink between the hardware components and the software. This data is then used inthe implementation phase.Setting the Instrument’s AddressAbove all, it is necessary to set the address of the equipment. There are two methodsavailable to accomplish this task: setting locally using an integrated switch on theequipment (hardware setting), or setting remotely (software setting).- The hardware setting method is done by positioning the address of the equipmentusing 7 dip switches. The equipment can accept any address between 1 and 125.- The software setting method is done using a configuration tool or an assetmanagement tool (examples include PACTware and FieldCare) and a master class II,which is the physical link with the instrumentation.55
