ContentThis guide is structured according to the different phases of the application life cycle:Selection phaseThis guide proposes criteria selection of the most appropriate solution for integratinginstrumentation into our collaborative control system. Cabling system, Profibusmaster and system topologies are described in this chapter facilitate the selectionphase. The aim is to build an automation architecture that integrates a processinstrumentation solution and to propose guidelines that improve the effectiveness ofthe design phase.Design phaseThree system architectures are proposed and used in all the following chapters.Hardware cabling system and software architecture flowchart are presented. At thisstage, all components from the SCADA system to the instruments are combined tobuild a complete system application. The design of measures treatment, diagnosticanalysis and adjustments services are clearly defined.Configuration phaseRecommendations are provided to facilitate the configuration of the different systemsusing dedicated software for the sensor, Profibus master and slaves.Guidelines to facilitate data exchanged between these tools are described.Implementation phaseMeasures treatment, diagnostic analysis and adjustments services require dedicatedfunctions and objects in the PLC and SCADA applications. Detailed programmingexamples describe the best way to handle instrumentations services.Operation phaseThe Plant Operator requires a human interface to control and diagnose processmeasurement; in the same way, instrumentation specialists use asset managementtools to diagnose and calibrate process optimization.5
