Distributed Architecture Premium with MNET gatewayPlant assetmanagementSCADAQuantumEthernetM340PremiumProsoftMNET 5204Profibus DPSK3JunctionboxeProfibus PAI/ODistributed topology with a Premium PLC requires an alternative PROFIBUSarchitectural method. In this example an Ethernet TCP/IP to PROFIBUS DP gateway isintegrated into the architecture. This gateway is also capable of handling Modbus TCPprotocol and Master Class 2 communications. The Premium PLC can communicate toProfibus devices through this gateway from an Ethernet port, located either on an inrackEthernet Module, or on the CPU front plate, depending on the PLC type.In this architecture a Master Gateway (5204-MNET-PDPMV1) from ProSoft, is usedto connect the Profibus DP bus to the Ethernet network. This gateway offer ProfibusDP V1 services that enable direct access to instrumentation devices allowingconfiguration, diagnostics, and calibration from asset management tools. Please note:. Other Modbus TCP to Profibus DP gateways can be used for thispurpose, such as the Anybus X-gateway from HMS. The only constraints are Masterclass 2 and FDT/DTM compatibility. This type of architecture is compatible with a Premium Hot Standby configuration.Other PLC such as the Modicon M340 can also be used in this architecture instead ofthe Premium.Prosoft Configuration Builder software (PCB) is required to configure the network.37
