Selecting the Bus TopologyThe choice of topology, centralized or distributed, depends on the type of Masterselected:• Centralized: the Profibus Master is a module contained in the PLC• Decentralized: the Profibus Master is located in a gateway Ethernet/ProfibusThe number of couplers depends on the number of instruments used and the currentlimitations of imposed.Multi-barriers and junctions boxes provide the connections between the instrumentsand the couplersWhen completed, the selected architecture will have one of the structures shown inthe figure below.The masters and gateways are modules integrated in the PLC.
