FOUNDATION fieldbus strategy providers will propose HSE as a system backboneand H1 as a fieldbus connected through a linking device. FOUNDATION fieldbus H1uses the same physical layer as Profibus PA. It can handle up to 32 devices persegment and it supports the requirements of intrinsic safety, including the new FISCOmodel.FOUNDATION fieldbus is a peer-to-peer protocol. Devices can communicate witheach other without a host, and they can initiate communications without a specifichost command. For example, if a FOUNDATION fieldbus device experiences aproblem, it can send an alarm. This peer-to-peer communication also enablesFOUNDATION fieldbus devices with the appropriate function blocks to executecontrol in the field, independent of a host system.16
PROFIBUS DP/PAIntroductionPROFIBUS (Process Field BUS) DP (Decentralized Peripherical) was developed in1989.
