<strong>Permit</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Fly</strong> <strong>requirements</strong> <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> <strong>recovery</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>damaged</strong> <strong>or</strong> unserviceable aircraft – ferry flights OTAC 91-1, 119-2, 121-2, 135-2APPENDIX ATechnical ProceduresThe following details should be included in <strong>the</strong> company’s Maintenance Control Manual:1. Who can assess aircraft damage and <strong>to</strong> whom it would be rep<strong>or</strong>ted.2. Who would be notified within <strong>the</strong> opera<strong>to</strong>r’s airw<strong>or</strong>thiness supp<strong>or</strong>t <strong>or</strong>ganisation and<strong>the</strong> actions <strong>the</strong>y would be required <strong>to</strong> follow <strong>to</strong> determine whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> aircraft couldcarry out a ferry flight safely with <strong>the</strong> identification <strong>of</strong> any particular operationallimitations that would need <strong>to</strong> be applied. Procedures <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> contacting <strong>the</strong> aircraft TypeCertificate Holder <strong>or</strong> approved DOA would be required.3. How <strong>the</strong> opera<strong>to</strong>r’s flight operations department would be consulted once <strong>the</strong> physicalcondition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> aircraft has been assessed and any operating conditions necessary<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> <strong>the</strong> ferry flight have been identified.4. A list <strong>of</strong> nominated technical personnel who will be responsible <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> auth<strong>or</strong>ising <strong>the</strong>ferry flight and making an application <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> OTAA <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> a <strong>Permit</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Fly</strong>.5. A description <strong>of</strong> how <strong>the</strong> <strong>Permit</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Fly</strong> will be delivered <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> aircraft and how <strong>the</strong>Flight Release Certificate will be raised, issued and placed on <strong>the</strong> aircraft.Operating ProceduresThe following details should be included in <strong>the</strong> company’s Operations Manual.1. The nominated flight operations personnel who can liaise with <strong>the</strong> technicaldepartment on procedures <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> <strong>the</strong> operation; details <strong>of</strong> those personnel who canauth<strong>or</strong>ise a ferry flight.2. The considerations <strong>to</strong> be taken account <strong>of</strong> be<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>e a ferry flight is auth<strong>or</strong>ised. Thesemay include:(a)(b)(c)(d)(e)(f)(g)(h)(i)Any limitations applicable <strong>to</strong> ferry flights that are detailed within <strong>the</strong> FlightManualCrew operating procedures <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> carrying out ferry flights, unless conduct <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> flight is managed within existing crew operating procedures.Runway limitationsPer<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>mance data <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> all phases <strong>of</strong> flight in <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>to</strong> be flown.Fuel planning and managementExisting unserviceable conditionsOverflight permissions <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> <strong>the</strong> route <strong>to</strong> be flownEn-route wea<strong>the</strong>rCrew experienceOTAC s/n 025 Issue 1 Page 5 <strong>of</strong> 6
