Dr. Allam Appa RaoDeanCollege of EngineeringThe Andhra <strong>University</strong>, IndiaDr. Jyh-Sheng KeSenior Fellow and Board MemberThe Institute for InformationIndustry, TaiwanDr. Jyh-Sheng Ke is currently the Senior Fellow and Board Memberof the Institute for Information Industry (III), Taiwan, and was thePresident/CEO of III from 2003 to 2006. In his twenty-five yearscareer at III, Dr. Ke first was responsible for the Chinese computerdevelopment, and then has directed the research and developmentof a wide spectrum of advanced technologies for computer andcommunications products, led pioneering work in softwareengineering environment development, multimediacommunications technology development, as well as assisted thegovernment in the promotion and development of the NationalInformation Infrastructure and bridging the digital divide.In 2005 and 2006, he also served as the Chairman of the ChineseInstitute of Electrical Engineering, Taiwan. In 2007, he was electedas the Chairman of IT-enabled Service Management Association,Taiwan.Dr. Ke obtained a B.S. Degree in Computer Science and ControlEngineering from the National Chiao-Tung <strong>University</strong>, Taiwan and,later, his Masters and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the <strong>University</strong>of Nebraska and <strong>University</strong> of Illinois, respectively. In 2004, Dr. Kewas elected as a Fellow of Chinese Society for Management ofTechnology, Taiwan. In 2007, he was awarded as an outstandingalumnus by National Chiao-Tung <strong>University</strong>.Engineering Technology (SEK) research group at SMU. Dr. Tanik isco-founder of the interdisciplinary and international society, Societyfor Design and Process Science. His publications include coauthoringsix books, co-editing eight collected works, and morethan 100 journal papers, conference papers, book chapters, andreports funded by various government agencies and corporations.Under his direction, 15 Ph.D. dissertations and 20 M.S. theseshave been completed. Dr. Tanik’s research interests include softwaresystems engineering, embedded and intelligent softwaresystems, wireless and time-critical software support, collaborativecomputing for domain specific applications, and integrated systemsdesign and process engineering. Current Research Sponsoredprojects include E-Business application design for Sports-Medicine, Multi-lifecycle Engineering software systems for environmentalprotection, Time-critical systems for Super Conducting SuperCollider,Intelligent cost-estimation systems software, Intelligenttime-and-space critical systems, Intelligent digital switchmaintenance systems, Intelligent user-interfaces for factory andlaboratory automation. Current and recent sponsors include DoD,Army, NATO, Texas Instruments, AT&T, E-Systems, Lockheed, CTI-Brazil, EMBRAPA-Brazil, Super Conducting SuperCollider, State ofNew Jersey, Northern Telecom, IRS, DEC, Abbott Laboratories,Merle-Collins foundation, and Texacone Inc.Dr. Murat M. Tanik<strong>University</strong> of Alabama at Birmingham,Birmingham, AlabamaDr. Tanik joined the UAB School of Engineering in 1998 as a professor.Prior to joining the UAB faculty, he was an associate professorand the director of Electronic Enterprise Engineering at NJITand the director of Software Systems Engineering Institute (SSEI)at The <strong>University</strong> of Texas at Austin. He is also the director and chiefscientist of Process Sciences Laboratory, a think-tank of processcenteredknowledge integration. Dr. Tanik has worked on relatedprojects for NASA, Arthur A. Collins (developer of Apollo moon missions’tracking and communications systems), and ISSI. He wasan associate professor and the director of the Software Systems
