Lifting with BLITZIntroductionThere are many different factors in the organisationof the work processes that involve the useof a pit. One of the most important is the choiceof the suitable lifting equipment. The comprehensive range of BLITZ lifts makesyour decision an easy one. There are tailormadeconcepts for virtually every application. In developing these concepts, we did morethan simply design elements that were functional. We focused on the aspects of ergonomicsand safety. Yet another reason why BLITZ liftsare approved by all leading truck manufacturers. It’s now time for “curtain up” on a tour of theworld of lifting – with BLITZ.Page 8Pit lifts, suspendedPage 12Pit lifting systemsPage 14Floor-running pit liftsPage 16Gearbox liftsPage 18Jacking beamsPage 20Supporting packagesPage 22Accessories & load carrying devicesPage 24Segment pit covering and pit extension2

The modular principleThe components that make a perfectmatchBLITZ lifts have an inherently open system ar chi -tec ture. Important parameters are taken into accountfrom the development phase on. Open interfacesguarantee op ti mum interplay between all the vitalcomponents of the pit working environment. These interfaces, in con junc tion with BLITZ loadcarrying devices and BLITZ ac ces so ries, make it possibleto handle virtually any vehicle.InterplayEach component depends on all the other three, and only the relationship guarantees an optimumworking environment: the BLITZ modularprinciple.Vehicle manufacturerVehicle-specific requirementsThe complete systemPit lifts, accessories and loadcarrying devices from BLITZCustomerPreferences and suggestionsBLITZ system consultantContact person and co or di na tor3

Safety packageProtection all-round for any matterSafety and its significance when work ing in a pitare often underestimated. Yet when large loadsare being handled every day, it is a matter ofvital im por tance.BLITZ lifts are developed from the outset withthe aim of assuring maximum safety for the operator– without any compromises. As a result, the safety features of our lifts define the standardfor modern lifting equipment.12Safety at a glance4 1. Safe dimensions: The sturdy design of BLITZ lifts isreflected in the substantial diameters of the piston rods. They are thus able to withstand safely the external forcesand bending moments to which they are subjected. 2. Thepatented BLITZ corrosion pre ven tion system: Fully hydrauliclifting unit – during every lifting and lowering move ment, the cyl in der is submerged in oil on either side of the sealingsleeve. This means that both the piston rod and the cylinderare constantly in an oil bath, effectively protecting the cylinderwalls against corrosion. 3. Safe guides: The pis ton rod’slong guide guar an tees op ti mum ab sorp tion of lat er al forc es.As loads are only very rare ly sup port ed cen tral ly, this as pectis par tic u lar ly important. 4. Safe seals: The seal be tweenthe piston rod and the pres sure cyl in der is applied via sleeveson internal sleeve supports. This pre vents the sealing sleevesfrom being dam aged in the event of the piston rod sustainingexternal damage. Pressure loss which would cause the lift tolower in an un con trolled manner is thus avoided. 5. Safeconnections: On the BLITZ de sign, all oil-car ry ing as sem bliesare flanged directly onto the lift. Com po nents that are proneto wear ing, such as hose con nec tions etc., are thus avoidedaltogether. In ci den tal ly, this ar range ment allows maximumclearance between the lift and the walls of the pit.34

Operator convenienceFor an ergonomic workplaceA well thought-out operating concept is an integralaspect of every BLITZ lift. Re as sur ing ly clear symbolsand large-area controls are used to create a familiarworking environment. The ar range ment of the controlsalso makes sense to the user. For example, our mobile pit lifts of the Pit Star/PitBoy series have foot-operated controls. This leavesthe operator’s hands free for working on the supposedplace – the vehicle.1235Ergonomics 1. Convenient foot-operated controls: BLITZ pit lifts in the PitStar and Pit Boy range have foot-operated controls for minimumeffort. This leaves the operator’s hands free for working on the vehicle. 2. Large-area controls: BLITZ suspended pit lifts are controlledvia large controls, which are also easy to operate when wearinggloves. 3. Stepless fine-adjustment stroke: The stepless fine-adjustmentstrokes with ergonomic hand-operated or foot-operatedcontrol permit the load to be approached accurately.5

The ultimate workplaceThe complete working pitWhat should every pit have? What factors need tobe taken into account? These are questions to whichthere is no standard answer. As a special service, ourcustomers can request the BLITZ planning guidanceand call on the services of an expert BLITZ advisor.21109Product features 1. Secure bond: Integral concrete tie elements in the pit edgingestablish a secure bond with the flooring. 2. Safely supported:To ensure that the raised vehicle cannot topple over, we in additionrecommend the use of a supporting bridge. By providingmore points of support, it en hanc es working safety and in creas esthe lift’s op er at ing range. See page 20 for more information. 3.Storage: Always hunting around for the right tool? We had a brightidea: handy tool shelves on the inside walls of the pit. 4. Supported:ATS, the standard traverse from BLITZ. The ideal 2-pointsupport for loaded axles and for bypassing the differential – increasinglyan essential requirement! 5. Access: Stairs of steel orconcrete at both ends of the pit provide safe access. Remember:always provide two sets of stairs*. 6. Classic: BLITZ suspendedpit lifts typify the classic pit lift. They incorporate all the typical featuresof a BLITZ lift. For example, the patented corrosion pro tec tionsystem and the large-area controls. 7. Open sesame!: Open justthose sections where you need an open ing in the pit. And if you nolonger need it open, simply close it up again – swiftly and effortlessly. The BLITZ segment pit covering opens up a new dimension

3 45678of versatility and safety. Suggestion: incorporate it into your plansright from the outset. 8. Illumination: Illumination on the workplacedoes not only fa cil i tate a lot of things, but essentially contributes tosafe operations in the pit. It helps to show things in a new “light”. 9. Surface grip: BLITZ mobile lifts can be repositioned on rails. Theextra-flat carriage and the compact design allow maximum freedomof movement inside the pit. Entirely foot-operated, for an ergonomicworking environment. 10. Pressure on: Every pit needs a supply ofcompressed air. For in stance to operate the high-performance BLITZlift. Suggestion: fit a com pressed-air connection with water separator.* As required in the safety regulations of German industrial insurers,e. g. BGR 157

Pit lifts, suspendedThe classic pit concept1 2837645Product features 1. Smooth running: The standard needle roller bearings on thecarriage rollers permit ef fort less sliding of the lift inside the pit. 2.Durability: Both the piston rod and the pump piston are hard-chromeplated, for pro tec tion against corrosion and wear. 3. Fully hydrauliclifting unit: Thanks to the patented BLITZ corrosion preventionsystem, during every lifting and lowering movement the cylinder issubmerged in oil on either side of the sealing sleeve. This means thatboth the piston rod and the cylinder are con stant ly in an oil bath, effectively protecting the cylinder walls against corrosion. 4. Timesaving(I): The hydro-pneu mat ic quick lift rapidly moves the piston rodto the lifting point. 5. Precision: The stepless fine-ad just ment strokepermits the pit lift to be positioned ac cu rate ly at the vehicle. Importantfor responsive lifting and when offering up assemblies. 6. Time-saving(II): The hydro-pneu mat ic forced return rapidly retracts the pistoneven when off-load. Unlike con ven tion al pit lifts, the piston is in effect“pulled” back into its rest position. 7. Minimum effort: The loadstroke of the pneu mat ic motor en a bles the load to be lifted at the pushof a button – without any physical effort. 8. Ergonomics: To allowmaximum freedom for movement in the pit, the operating elementsare flanged onto the front. Large-area controls permit responsiveoperation even when wearing gloves. The illustration shows GHUSP 14. Note: Some of the above features areoptions available at extra charge. For all eventualitiesThere are over 100 different standard versions ofBLITZ sus pend ed pit lifts. The large number of differentequip ment versions makes the choice of a BLITZlift an easy one.The universal design of these lifts means that theycan be used in all conventional pit profiles. There arein ad di tion various carriage versions for match ingindividually to the pit.8

GH/GHLGHS/GHSLGHUS/GHUSL/GHUSTGHSP/GHSLPThe entry-level models, withhand hydraulic idle and loadstroke. Ideal for workingenvironments where the liftis rarely used. The GHL versionwith an 800 mm strokeis also useful for removingunits and gear-boxes.Based on the GH/GHL version, this in addition hashydro-pneumatic quicklift for off-load stroke. Thissaves precious time, as itis no longer necessary topump up the lifting pistonvia a hydraulic hand pumpwhen off-load. Load strokeis carried out by means of ahydraulic hand pump. The basic equipment isidentical to the GHS/GHSLmodels, except for the integralhydro-pneumatic forcedreturn. The lifting piston isreturned rapidly to the basicposition even when notloaded, for a greater timesaving. An additional air motormeans that the load canbe raised ef fort less ly at thepush of a button. As on othermodels, the quick lift is performedhydro-pneumatically.GHUSP/GHUSLP/GHUSTPThe top models of the BLITZsuspended pit lifts share thefeatures of the GHSP/GHSLPand also have hydro-pneumaticforced return. TheGHUSTP models with thetelescopic design can beused both as a traditionalaxle lift and also for dismantlinggearboxes.GHUSE/GHUSLEThe electric pit lifts fromBLITZ have an electro-hydraulicload stroke, hydraulicforced return and a steplessfine stroke via an auxiliaryhydraulic hand pump.TwinRam JackWith the new dual cylindermodel TwinRam Jack fromBLITZ you can create a newsensation of space in the pit.Apart from the two particularlyslim lifting cylindersand an even flatter carriage, there is actually nothing thatcan get in your way. The innovativePTC system, needleroller bearings, and themechanical forced return, will all increase productivityat the workstation.9

Minimum effort: The load stroke of the pneu mat icmotor en a bles the load to be lifted at the push of a button – withoutany physical effort. 6. Durability: Both the piston rod and the pumppiston are hard-chrome plated, for pro tec tion against corrosion andwear. 7. Load-depressing safety crosstrolley: The movement facilityunder load is disabled from a load of approx. 800 kg. A particularly flatdesign is also achieved. The illustration shows GHUSKTP 14/14. Supporting packagesThe perfect linkThe range of applications of a pit lift depends criticallyon the use of the right load carrying devices. Thisis why BLITZ works in close co op er a tion with vehicleman u fac tur ers. As soon as a new generation of vehicleis completed, BLITZ develops the load carryingdevices for it. So as soon as it goes on sale, you haveaccess to the right equipment. Suggestion: for safetyreasons, separate supports should always be placedunder lifted vehicles. This affords greater workingsafety and the lift can meanwhile be used else where.BLITZ supporting packages have been carefullycom posed, to cover the exact re quire ments of eachwork ing context. The decision-making chart on theright gives you an initial im pres sion of the range. Youcan of course add further load carrying devices at anytime – choose from the widest range of such equipmenton the market.DS 2ATSVSGSATKATSVSGSDR 6DS 2Suppoting package IThe minimum outfit for aworking pit, comprising:1 supporting bridge GS1 axle traverse ATS2 spacers DS 21 connecting set VSSuppoting package IIThe basic equipment fortruck workshops withuniversal vehicle passage, com pris ing:2 supporting bridges GS1 axle traverse ATS1 axle traverse ATK2 spacers DS 21 connecting set VS2 spacing tubes DR 6Capacity VBG 14/CE 4-10 t/4,5-11 t14 t/15,5 t16-20 t/ 30 t/17,5-22 t 33 t4-10 t/4,5-11 t14 t/15,5 t16-20 t/ 30 t/17,5-22 t 33 tTrucksTrucks, low-profile tyresBusesBuses, low-levelMunicipal vehiclesFire serviceUnimogsMobile cranesCar transporters, low loadersMilitary vehiclesConstruction ma chin ery, wheeled loadersSpecial-purpose vehicles20

Pit coveringPatented multi-segment designIt’s often the simple, un com pli cat ed things in life thatmake matters easier. The patented BLITZ segment pit covering is onesuch thing. It literally turns the conventional ap proachto pit tasks on its head: as of now, only those sectionsof the pit that are genuinely needed are opened up.Individual roller-mounted pull-out elements make thispossible. Several tasks can now be performed si mul -ta ne ous ly on the vehicle – or, if you so wish, a task onmore than one vehicle.23176Product features 1. Full drive-across property: The extra-high capacity permits fulldrive-across properties (floor el e ments up to 10 t wheel load, pull-outelements up to 5 t wheel load). 2. Versatility (I): Each individualsliding cover can easily be used for other tasks, e.g. as a surface tosupport in conjunction with trestles. 3. Time saving: Now you canperform work in front of, beneath and behind the vehicle si mul ta n-e ous ly, and use the side access steps as well. No problem if you usethe segment pit covering from BLITZ. 4. Optimal vehicle access:As the covering elements can be extended wherever needed, maximum access to the vehicle is obtained. 5. Easier working: Theeffort required for pulling out the roller-mounted covering el e mentsca. 105050012302009001400 ca.2275+1 0+5104580200IPB 12024900

BusStop pit extensionSimply BrilliantThe new BusStop pit expansion makes it possible tobring the productivity of an in-ground truck lift intothe pit. Maintenance work to external componentsand units on low-platform commercial vehicles areliterally child’s play. Fuel tanks on low-liners can alsobe dismantled easily. When you are redesigning yourfacilities, it’s important to consider including theBusStop pit extension.45Step 1First remove the two gratingsfrom the workshopfloor. The cleared area cannow be used for shifting theplatform.is minimal. Bridges can thus be created across the pit (subject to thenec es sary safety pre cau tions) within a matter of seconds. 6. Safety:Sections of the pit that are not in use can be cov ered over rapidlyand flexibly. The risk of accidents at the workplace is thus min i mised. 7. Versatility (II): The exposed length of the pit is only as much asis needed. The remaining surface can be used for other tasks. Thisin creas es the effective surface area of the workshop.Step 2In the second stage, the adjustableplatform is broughtto its parking position. Theextra opening on the workshopfloor now provides freeaccess to all external componentson the vehicle.25
