As that devoutly Christian philosopherLeibniz asked, “Why is there anything at all, and not – much rather – nothing?” Thisquestion having appeared on the philosophical horizon, we can never cease to recognizeit as an enigma that cannot be reduced to an “analytic” collapse of being into beings,or to a “finitist” dialectic of the “nothing nothinging” (to use the Heideggerean term).It is a question that renders all philosophy henceforth questionable.
