The systemconsists of staff workstations and self-service units (for users).Librarians put RFID tags on items for borrowing and users canborrow the items by themselves. With the help of the self-serviceunit, by pressing one button student can borrow up to ten items.Users can also extend loan periods of borrowed items and checktheir personal accounts. Moreover, there is a possibility to returnborrowed items to one place, so users can save their time, avoidqueues and manage without staff assistance.RFID technology implements key expectations of a modern informationuser and that is to choose items without assistance, notto rely on the help of others, to receive service as quickly as possible.All open stacks’ items (more than 120 thousand items) inthe main library have been marked with special RFID tags.
