The Vitoplex 100-LS is a compact<br />
three-pass boiler for generating<br />
low pressure steam in the output<br />
range from 0.26 to 2.2 t/h. The<br />
boiler is designed for operation<br />
with 1 bar pressure. Subject to<br />
requirements, the operating<br />
pressure can be reduced to 0.5 bar.<br />
Wide water galleries and wide<br />
spaces between hot gas pipes and<br />
inserts into the boiler wall provide<br />
excellent natural circulation and a<br />
reliable heat transfer, resulting in<br />
high operational reliability and a<br />
long service life.<br />
The low material loading through<br />
the completely water-cooled rear<br />
reversing chamber and the<br />
absence of firebrick lining result in<br />
an extremely low-stress boiler<br />
construction.<br />
A very positive result of the large<br />
water content are the favourable<br />
operating characteristics during<br />
load fluctuations. Residual moisture<br />
in the steam is avoided, even when<br />
steam is suddenly drawn off or in<br />
large volumes, thanks to the boiler<br />
design. Consequently, high quality<br />
steam is constantly available. The<br />
large steam chamber with its<br />
correspondingly large evaporator<br />
and the integral steam drier support<br />
the balanced characteristics of<br />
this boiler.<br />

For us, utilising fuel to its<br />
maximum goes without saying.<br />
Today, it is not a matter of choice<br />
but absolutely essential to protect<br />
the environment and natural<br />
resources that the maximum is<br />
extracted from the available fuel.<br />

developed the economiser (ECO)<br />

Waste heat boilers utilise the heat<br />
from flue gases generated during<br />
combustion processes or the heat<br />
in hot exhaust air from industrial<br />
processes to generate hot water or<br />
saturated steam.<br />
Economical and political<br />
considerations frequently suggest<br />
the installation of waste heat<br />
boilers in combination with gas<br />
turbines and CHP stations. The<br />
influence of steadily increasing<br />
energy costs has also led to a rise<br />
in the use of waste heat boilers to<br />
exploit the waste heat generated in<br />
industrial processes.<br />
<strong>Viessmann</strong> waste heat boilers are<br />
available in two designs:<br />
■ Waste heat boilers (AHK)<br />
without additional combustion.<br />
For this, exclusively the flue<br />
gas/exhaust air volumes are<br />
used to generate hot water or<br />
saturated steam.<br />
■ Hot water or steam boilers with<br />
waste heat utilisation. These are<br />
boilers with conventional<br />
combustion and additional<br />
waste heat utilisation.<br />
The choice of which boiler version<br />
to use depends on the specific<br />
conditions of user applications.<br />

The waste heat boilers from<br />
<strong>Viessmann</strong> are designed according<br />
to the flame tube/smoke tube<br />
boiler principle. Here, the hot flue<br />
gas is directed through pipe<br />
bundles, where its heat is<br />
transferred to the water inside the<br />
boiler body.<br />
By contrast, on flue gas heat<br />
exchangers, the water flows<br />
through pipe bundles while the<br />
flue gas flows around the pipes<br />
inside the heat exchanger housing.<br />
Flue gas heat exchangers are<br />
preferred when using "cooler"<br />
flue gases for generating DHW.<br />
Flue gas collectors are located on<br />
the inlet and outlet side of the<br />
waste heat boilers, where cleaning<br />
apertures and flue connections<br />
are located.<br />
To minimise radiation losses, the<br />
waste heat boiler is fitted with a<br />
120 mm composite thermal<br />
insulation with a painted sheet<br />
steel jacket.<br />
Like all Vitomax boilers, the waste<br />
heat boiler stands on a base frame<br />
that spreads the load across a large<br />
area of the floor.<br />

Essential part of the steam boiler<br />
system is the control technology. In<br />
this regard too, <strong>Viessmann</strong> calls on<br />
the best technology available<br />
today. To ensure a safe and<br />
convenient operation, we have<br />
developed a new generation of our<br />
control panel technology:<br />
Vitocontrol.<br />
Function:<br />
Based on a modular PLC, all nonsafety<br />
control functions of the<br />
boiler are managed here. For<br />
example, the boiler output, the<br />
water level control, the T.D.S. and<br />
blow-down control, the feed water<br />
pump control and, if required, the<br />
control of the economiser bypass<br />
damper and the flue gas damper<br />
are handled by the Vitocontrol.<br />
Remote supervision with<br />
automatic operation and fault<br />
messages via the telephone<br />
network is enabled via a control<br />
room or an extension module.<br />
That way, the world is your oyster.<br />
Updates, checks and optimising<br />
can be implemented from<br />
anywhere.<br />
All the above functions are<br />
programmed in the PLC. These can<br />
be linked up through additional<br />
field devices and by activating the<br />
software without much effort. The<br />
safety equipment required in<br />
accordance with the regulations<br />
applicable in each country are<br />
integrated into the control panel.
Operation:<br />
The system is programmed and<br />
controlled via a colour touch<br />
screen display with graphic<br />
capability that is built into the<br />
control panel door.<br />
On the standard display, you<br />
can read off the most important<br />
functions at a glance. The<br />
combination of graphic display<br />
and plain text messages allows<br />
you to orientate yourself quickly.<br />
The system is well prepared for the<br />
use in the country of destination.<br />
You can select from five preprogrammed<br />
languages. Your<br />
customers, your local service<br />
engineer or a service engineer from<br />
a service centre will be grateful.<br />

Apart from the demand for the<br />
highest quality and flexibility,<br />
ensuring a perfect match amongst<br />
individual components is of vital<br />
importance.<br />
Whether chemical or thermal water<br />
treatment, boiler control valves or<br />
safety assemblies, all components<br />
supplied by us offer a perfect<br />
functional match.<br />
A module for water softening,<br />
chemical dosing and thermal<br />
degassing will be supplied,<br />
matched to your individual<br />
demand and subject to the fresh<br />
water quality. Subject to the water<br />
quality, either dual pendulum<br />
softening systems, full desalination<br />
or reverse osmosis systems are<br />
employed.<br />
The aims and benefits of excellent<br />
and reliable system technology are<br />
immediately apparent: Fully<br />
automatic operation can safeguard<br />
the demand-dependent operation<br />
of the boiler system over a period<br />
that can be freely selected. That<br />
improves the steam quality and<br />
extends the service life of the<br />
boiler. One side-effect that should<br />
not be ignored is a significant<br />
reduction of the running costs.<br />
Fewer T.D.S. and blow-down<br />
losses of boiler water mean less<br />
topping up with treated and heated<br />
feed water.

Also, where feed water pumps are<br />

standards and regulations. In<br />
addition, we set high standards<br />
for the materials used and their<br />
processing. In addition to standards<br />
and regulations, our welders are<br />
subject to supplementary<br />
supervision. Delivery conditions<br />
to limit tolerances and material<br />
properties are also agreed with<br />
our suppliers.
Our design philosophy is based on<br />
the principle of engineering safety<br />
into the product itself. This is<br />
reflected particularly in ensuring<br />
low stress designs. We achieve this<br />
principle by allowing for large<br />
expansion joints between<br />
components themselves and their<br />
relative wall thickness.<br />
The Vitomax series of large<br />
boilers are manufactured in<br />
smaller numbers or as bespoke<br />
boiler systems. At the end of<br />
production, the boilers are<br />
subjected to a pressure test at<br />
1.85-times operating pressure, in<br />
accordance with the Pressure<br />
Equipment Directive.<br />

inspected in accordance with the<br />
