These issues are considered acceptable inherent characteristics ofthe fabric. All fabrics have a small amount of flaws present that can be seenclose up. We consider these flaws unacceptable only if at from a distance offive (5) feet they can still be seen. Some minor puckering of the fabric mayoccur where the fabric is attached to the headrail. This is an inherent characteristicof all pleated material and considered acceptable. Some billowingof fabric may also occur on strong sun windows if you raise the productquickly. To avoid this, either wait for the heat to dissipate or raise the shadevery slowly. Pleated material has a memory. The shade must bein the lowered or closed position in order to determine commercial tolerance of color when comparedto the sample book swatch. All cellular materials will appear blotchy to some degree andshow minor flaws when an exterior light source back-lights the shade. These issues are consideredacceptable inherent characteristics of the fabric. All fabrics have a small amount of flawspresent that can be seen close up. We consider these flaws unacceptable only if at from a distanceof five (5) feet they can still be seen. Some minor puckering of the fabric may occur wherethe fabric is attached to the headrail. This is an inherent characteristic of all cellular materialand considered acceptable. Some billowing of fabric may also occur on strong sun windows if youraise the product quickly. To avoid this, either wait for the heat to dissipate or raise the shadevery slowly. Cellular material has a memory. Once a shade has billowed and been creased by raisingit improperly, it will tend to continue. Two on one headrail shades may not hang evenly dueto fabric bias twist. This tends to cause the bottom of each shade to flair either toward the windowor away from it. This tends to cause the bottom of each shade to flair either toward the windowor away from it. When the shade is in the raised position, the color will appear more intense. The shade must bein the lowered or closed position in order to determine commercial tolerance of color when compared to the sample book swatch. All cellular materials will appear blotchy to some degree andshow minor flaws when an exterior light source back-lights the shade. These issues are considered acceptable inherent characteristics of the fabric. All fabrics have a small amount of flaws presentthat can be seen close up. We consider these flaws unacceptable only if at from a distance of five (5) feet they can still be seen. Some minor puckering of the fabric may occur where the fabricis attached to the headrail. This is an inherent characteristic of all cellular material and considered acceptable. Some billowing of fabric may also occur on strong sun windows if you raise theproduct quickly. To avoid this, either wait for the heat to dissipate or raise the shade very slowly. Cellular material has a memory. The problem with using cut outs on a shade isthat the length dimension of the shade in relationship to the individualcell location is not stable. The shade will stretch over time and the cellposition will migrate accordingly. In other words, the height position ofthe cut out will change and or move. In addition, the shade fabric maybegin to fray. Please make your customer aware of these facts. Pricing:Price shade as normal and add the surcharge of $80.Cut OutRev.8/03

Pleated, Cellular & Treanna ShadesF49Treanna Window ShadingsShade OperationTreanna Shades feature the Omni-View Cord System. The Omni-View System provides the ability to manipulate the shade into variousviewing positions. From the closed and retracted position (fabricinside the headrail), lower the fabric by pulling down on the rear ofthe loop cord until you reach the desired shading position. Once theshade is lowered completely to the window sill, continuing to pull thecord in the same direction will open the horizontal fabric vanes, offeringvaried views to the outside. Continuing to pull the cord in thesame direction will lift the shade while still in the “view-through”mode. To retract the shade, simply pull down on the front of the corduntil the shade reaches the desired viewing mode or fabric position.Viewing OptionsTreanna provides a number of varied views to the outside for controllinglight and privacy. Consequently, there are variations in visibilitythrough the shade when the vanes are tilted to their maximum openpositions. The following five modes can be obtained with standardshade operation when viewing the shade at eye level.Closed Top- Open Bottom - By partially lowering the shade from thefully raised position, the upper portion of your window will becomesemi-opaque while allowing a clear view below.Fully Private - When lowered completely, Treanna provides completeprivacy and softly diffuses light.Partially Open - Opening Treanna slightly will gradually increase thelevel of light and allow varying levels of view-through.“View Through” When Lowered - By completely opening thevanes, Treanna provides a softened, veiled view to the outside.“View Through” When Raised - From the open or “View-Through”position, continuing to pull down on the back of the cord will raisethe fabric allowing a clear view outside from below, and a veiled viewabove. Treanna can be raised up to 24” in this mode.Open3/8”SpecificationsClosedLength ConsiderationsSkandia will fabricate your Treanna shade to the exact lengthordered, when the vanes are in the open or “view-through” position. However, because the vanes rotate when closing, the shade willbecome 3/8” longer in the closed position. If closed and not raised, a slight puckering can occur on the lowermost sheer section. To compensate, slightly raise the shade until therail begins to lift off the window sill.If preferred, Treanna can be ordered at 3/8” less than the measuredlength. In this case, the bottomrail will be positioned 3/8” above thesill when the vanes are in the open position. Rotating the vanesclosed will cause the bottomrail to meet the sill, closing any space.(See figure above).Headrail Depth RequirementsThe Treanna headrail is extruded aluminum with an insert groove onthe front portion. A color coordinating fabric is inserted into thegroove.3-1/4”Vane ClosureThe Treanna Shade is designed to block out the light andprovide privacy when closed. However, the inherent natureof the fabric will cause a slight increase in the distance fromthe front to the back sheer, as you move further down on theshading. (See figure to right)For all shades, the maximum distance from the front sheerto the back sheer, when closed, will be 7/8”.Headrail2-3/4”Rev.8/03Leveling the ShadeTreanna Window Shading Products are leveled and weighted in thefactory so, when installed level, they will experience only minor skewingwhen being raised. F50 Pleated, Cellular & Treanna ShadesTreanna Window ShadingsSpecificationsMeasuring InstructionsInside Mount: Measure across the width of your window opening in three differentplaces - top, middle, bottom. Measure the length of the window openingfrom the underside of the soffit to the surface of the window sill in twoplaces. Use the smallest of these two measurements. Measurements should betaken within the window jamb. Provide the smallest of the three measurementsto Skandia. Be exact. Skandia will make the necessary deductions tofit the window opening.Outside Mount: Measure the exact width and length of the area to be covered. On the width, allow at least 1-1/2” of an overlap on each side. An overlapof 3” on each side is recommended. Be sure to take into consideration anyobstructions such as window trim, molding, locks and window cranks.Outside Mount: Treanna may be side mounted using “L” brackets. For sidemounts, follow the instructions for inside mounts. An additional 1/2” will betaken off the standard inside mount deduction to allow room for the “L”brackets. The maximum shade width utilizing the side mount option is 48”.Side by Side AlignmentWhen Treanna shades are installed side-by-side, vane alignment can be guaranteedwithin 1/4” only if: the shades are the same color and ordered at thesame time, AND the sum total of the widths of all shades needing alignmentis less than 102”, AND shades are the exact same length, AND side-by-sidelineup is specified when the order is placed.Fabric CollectionTreanna shades are available with two different fabric vanes. Light filtering androom darkening. Please note that room darkening does not mean blackout.A Note on FabricKnitted fabric may experience minor weave variations due to heat, humidityand other room conditions. These variations can result in slight bowing, puckering and dimpling of the Treanna material. This is considered normaland does not constitute a failure in either workmanship or materials. The possiblevariations are minor and have been shown, through case study, not todetract from the beauty of the product.Cleaning and CareThe soft delicate feel of Treanna Window Products belies the durability of thematerial. Treanna is made from sturdy, knitted polyester fabric and may befeather dusted or vacuumed at a low suction setting.Spots or stains can be lightly rubbed clean with a damp sponge and mild soap.To avoid discoloration of the material, we recommend against the use ofchemical cleaners.Treanna may be cleaned ultrasonically.Fabric Coverage for Inside Mounted ShadesThere will be a larger light gap on the control side of the shade for all insidemounts. The pictures below are of the same shade. The left side gap is considerablynarrower than the right control side gap. This is an inherent characteristicof this product. Our new bottomrail allows for eacy side to sideweight adjustment, which helps prevent the telescoping of fabric when theshade is raised or lowered.HardwareHold Down BracketsHold down brackets for Treanna are designed to provide the full range ofoperational control and motion that makes the Treanna product unique. The“tab” on the end caps of the bottomrail will hold the fabric in place for dooror window mounting, when the shade is completely lowered. The shade willdisengage from the hold down bracket, and can be raised or lowered at anytime, by simply adjusting the standard operating cord.Extension BracketsExtension or “L” brackets are available, which can be used to project the backof the shade 4-1/4” from the mounting surface.Spacer BlocksSpacer blocks project the shade 3/8” from the mounting surface. Use spacerblocks to obtain clearance when obstructions, such as window cranks or doorhandles obstruct the movement of the shade.Cord TensionerThe cord tensioner keeps the shade cord taut toprevent children and pets from entangling andsubsequently injuring themselves. It also allowsthe bead chain and roll stop to pass through easily,as well as the nylon cord. Cord tensionersmust be used with Treanna for this product tocomply with the Consumer Product SafetyCommission (CPSC) Child Safety Guidelines.Cord InformationThe length of the nylon loop cord is indicated by the chart below unless otherwisespecified. Our goal is to help you achieve greater profits by informing you, your sales personneland, consequently, the consumer of the performance expectations for each of our products. This eliminates 97% of consumercomplaints and helps you become the most knowledgeable window covering professional in the industry. Please take the time to reviewour frequently asked question section and use the information to educate and inform your customers about product expectations.Rev.8/03Pleated, Cellular & Treanna• Will the new shades match in color and texture to the onesyou installed for me last month? When our suppliers paint, dye or extrude the materials weuse to fabricate our products, there are slight coloration changes fromeach run. For example, when our wood finisher paints slats in ourcolor pure white, the final color is affected by both temperature andhumidity. If one run is produced when the temperature is 78º and thehumidity is 60% and the next run is produced when the temperatureis 82º and the humidity is 78%, the differences in temperature andhumidity, will cause each run of pure white slats to vary slightly incolor.• Why does my Treanna Shade roll-up crooked?Treanna should be installed by a qualified installer.Telescoping refers to the material rolling up unevenly on the rollerresulting in an overhang of fabric on one end. This can occur if theshade material is not placed squarely on the roller system, but withtoday’s metal rollers this happens. Most of the time, telescoping isthe result of a non-level installation of the roller system. This generallyoccurs on an inside-mounted product in a window casing that isnot level to begin with. These products must be installed perfectlylevel in order to function properly. This can be achieved by using alevel for an outside-mount installation and a level and shims for aninside-mount installation.• Why do my Treanna Shades not close exactly the same?Treanna’s unique cell structure does interfere with the productclosure remaining constant from one shade to another. BecauseTreanna is glued, it has some of the same bias issues as cellular shades. However, because of the cell’s shape and how it closes, shades of differentheights do display different degrees of closure. This is inherentto this product and is considered acceptable.• My Treanna shades are slightly puckered. Is this normal? Some puckering occurs on all Treanna shades. Most is veryminor in nature. It results mainly from inconsistencies in the fabricmaterial. We believe any reasonable customer will not find thisobjectionable, if it is discussed prior to ordering.• What is Mottling?Mottling, also referred to as blotchy, is a term used todescribe a material’s inconsistent appearance in color or texture.Any light-filtering fabric held up to a light source will have somemottling. Cellular and pleated shades, free-hang vertical fabrics, and Treanna fabrics have a certain degree of mottling. These fabricslook uniform or solid when laid on a surface that allows nolight to go through the fabric. Some sections of the fabric will bedarker (let less light in) whileothers will be lighter (morelight comes through). Thepattern is not regular, so oneshade’s light and dark areaswill not be the same fromone shade to the next. Thisrandomness is characteristicand is part of the beauty andwarmth that fabric provides. If you find this objectionable, you may want to select atotally opaque window covering such as a wood blind or PVC vertical.• What is considered an acceptable tolerance for color or texturematch? The commercial tolerance for an acceptable color or texturematch is a 2-foot separation. If there is no discernible differencebetween two colors or textures when placed 2 feet apart, the differenceis considered acceptable. The many factors that influence colorand texture make it impossible to paint, dye or extrude materials thatmatch perfectly from run to run. There will always be slight differences. However, our experience has shown that these differences arenot significant and can only be seen if the materials are placed nextto each other. Holding the materials 2 feet apart, you will not be ableto see a discernible difference. This is the standard we hold our vendorsto. It should not be an issue as long as your customer orders allthe window coverings for a single room at the same time.• Will my window covering discolor or fade?Discoloration is usually defined as a color that changes negativelyand is generally used to describe a loss in a colors intensity orthe yellowing of the color. Discoloration or fading can be caused bymany factors including but not limited to the temperature andhumidity of the home, chemical cleaning agents, long-term sunexposure, cigarette or cigar smoke, general cleanliness of the home, and the age of the product. Even though we use the finest materialsavailable, including the latest UV (ultraviolet) resistant finishes, areasonable amount of discoloration over time is to be expected. Thesun’s rays are very damaging to vinyl and fabric materials. Over time, you can expect that the side of the product that faces the sun tobecome slightly faded and a yellow cast or tint may become apparent.

F52Pleated, Cellular & Treanna Shades• Why do my shades not hang straight in the window?Like wood blinds fabric can also have bow, camber andtwist. When referring to fabric it is sometimes called bias. All wovenfabrics have bias regardless of fiber content. “Bias” can be seen in 3different forms. Bias can also cause a shade to raise unevenly.Cellular shades can have all three forms of bias dependingon how well each cell is glued to the previous cell in the machinegluing process. This is especially true with 2 on 1 headrail shades, where one shade twists toward the window, while the other shadetwists toward the room’s interior.• Front to back (twist). A spiraldistortion along the length of apiece of fabric. How the fabric isslit, glued, or woven at the mills isthe cause of all fabric bias twist.• Top to bottom (vertical). Acurvature in the longitudinaldirection causing the fabric tomove away from a flat plane.Print patterns and stitching andglue lines make up the majority ofvertical (bow) bias problems.• Side to side (horizontal). Camber is a curvature of the horizontaldirection causing fabric to move away from a flat plane. Print patternsand stitching and glue lines make up the majority of horizontal(camber) bias problems. We list the acceptable standards used in determining thebias you may experience under each product’s specifications. It isimportant to make your customer aware that these bias issues are aninherent part of the fabric used in the fabrication of the product theyselected and are considered normal.Rev.8/03
