<strong>The</strong> <strong>Management</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Globalization</strong> <strong>in</strong> S<strong>in</strong>gapore: <strong>Twentieth</strong> <strong>Century</strong> Lessons for theEarly Decades <strong>of</strong> the New <strong>Century</strong>anxieties <strong>of</strong> liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> S<strong>in</strong>gapore (also reproduced by the state)negat<strong>in</strong>g the social conditions that can activate hope as anendur<strong>in</strong>g characteristic and approach to life (Hage, 2003).
