Monday, November 18, 1878Boys to school. In the forenoon Father, Mr. Janson & I put the roof boards on hoghouse. Rained some & Mr. J. went to Carl Allen's afternoon. Came back & we put 3courses shingles on. Husked corn in evening.Tuesday 19Frank Head, John Church, H. Crum, Mr. Janson, Father & I shingled til 10o'clock then it rained until noon. Afternoon we shingled until night and got the buildinghalf shingled.Wednesday 20Head, Church, Crum, Mr. J., Father & I finished shingling hog house in forenoon.Afternoon Father & Mr. Janson went to Cleveland's to get battens. I made a newhammer handle.Thursday, November 21, 1878Mr. Brown, the ag't [agent] for the Owego Patent Spring Wagon Co. was here &sold Father a wagon for $100. Father went to Cleveland's & got a load of notchedflooring for the hog house. I helped Mr. Janson make 5 window frames & casings.Friday 22Rained all day hard. I helped Mr. J. put the window frames & casings into the hoghouse. Uncle Richard was here. The boys & Mr. J., Father & I husked corn in theevening.Saturday 23Rained nearly all day. Father & the boys husked corn. Mr. Johnson [Jansen] putthe door casing on & got everything ready for battins [sic]. I helped some. I went toSlaterville to lodge in the evening.Sunday, November 24, 1878Pleasant but very muddy. Fred Earsley was here. I went up to H. Crum's withhim. I went to Richford in the evening to take a book to Mr. Tyler's. Called at D.Yaple's.Monday 25I helped Mr. Janson put some battens on the front end of hog house in the morn,then it rained & he drew a plan for horse barn.
