Saturday, November 9, 1878We chored about home, fixed manger & cleaned straw out <strong>of</strong> the cow-stable at theshed so we could put the cows in. Allmost [sic] every one are using lights today, but thesleighing is poor with mud under it.Sunday 10Staid at home Uncle Richard was here today. Snow is going <strong>of</strong>f fast but some areusing sleighs.Monday 11School began today, Teacher Mr. Barber. Snow is nearly all gone. We drawed aload <strong>of</strong> wood & chored about in the forenoon. Afternoon took the lambs up on otherplace, killed a sheep & got things picked up for winter.Tuesday, November 12, 1878Mr. Janson, Father, Orville Surdam & I put the sills on the wall & the bentstogether in the A.M. Afternoon we went to Isaac Matson's to the raising <strong>of</strong> his horsebarn, then the hands came from there to our house & raised the hog house.Wednesday 13We had a hard shower in the morning, then * helped Mr. J. straighten the raftersup & then we boarded up both sides & the north end up to the beam. Ruth L. Northrop& her children went up to Charles Earsley's.Thursday 14Pleasant & snow all gone. Father got a load <strong>of</strong> ro<strong>of</strong> boards from Richford & aload <strong>of</strong> planed boards from C. Allen's. Mr. J & myself boarded up the north gable end &the south end to the railroad track for door & Mr. J Got that ready to put up.Friday, November 15, 1878Father got another load <strong>of</strong> boards from Richford. I helped Mr. Jansen fix doortrack & board up the front end <strong>of</strong> building. Father got the rest <strong>of</strong> his lumber fromCarlton Allen's.Saturday 16A very cold south wind this forenoon but warmer afternoon. I helped Mr. J. putthe cornice on the hog house. Father & the boys piled up wood down the creek. I wentto Slaterville to Lodge in the evening.Sunday 17Rained all day. I staid at home. Henry Crum was here this afternoon.
