InnovationLM6000 Gas Turbines Modified for EthanolGas EngineJenbacher JM620 Gas EnginesGas EngineGASCO Partners with GEGas EngineBrazil’s Petrobras created the world’s first sugarcanebasedethanol power plant, powered by GE’s LM6000PC gas turbines. Petrobras selected the LM6000 forthis project because of its demonstrated reliability andhigh efficiency and its ability to accommodate manyalternative fuels. The Juiz de Fora Power Plant serves150,000 people in Brazil.Great Northern Hydroponics, a 55-acre tomatogreenhouse, installed a 12-MW cogeneration powerplant, with four GE Jenbacher JM620 units. As a result,the plant is expected to cut greenhouse energy costsby at least 50 percent over time, and divert 15,000 tonsof CO 2from the atmosphere to crop fertilization.Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (GASCO), which manages gasprocessing and transportation, partnered with GE Oil& Gas on an initiative to meet rising energy demand.Launched in 2010, its key activities include technologysharingand evaluating new technologies to improveefficiency and reduce CO 2emissions.FuelEx NGL Recovery SystemGas EngineAlliance Pipelines, a natural gas transporter, asked GEfor help with high-value natural gas liquids (NGLs) thatwere being burned off in Alliance processes. GE filteredthe NGLs and made them available for sale, creatingsignificant financial opportunities while reducing GHGemissions.
