Other institutions that are in the conference areAnderson University, Bluffton University, Defiance College, EarlhamCollege, Franklin College, Hanover College, Manchester College, RoseHulman Institute of Technology, and Transylvania University.In their first HCAC action, the team was fifth out of seven teamsat the 1999 HCAC Championships. During that season, Erin Hill ranthe race in 19:52.9, placed eighth, and was named All-Conference.She was only 48 seconds behind the leader. In 2000, the <strong>Lions</strong> foundthemselves in sixth place as freshman Katie Nickoli placed 10th with atime of 19:57, and earned All-Conference.In 2001, the Mount did not qualify to receive a team score in thechampionship because only four runners competed (five runners areneeded to qualify).In 2002, the Mount was the host school and posted a seventh placefinish in the eight school conference meet. Katie Nickoli led the wayfor the <strong>Lions</strong> with a 26th place finish recording a time of 25:52 overthe 6,000 meter course at Mt. Airy Forest (Cincinnati, Ohio). Andersonplaced first in the team standings.In 2003 the <strong>Lions</strong> took another seventh place finish out of eightschools. Kati Nickoli also led the women with a 12th place finishof 24:51.66 and gained All-Conference honors. Anderson Universityfinished first again at the meet. The 2004 HCAC Championshipmeet saw Anderson repeat as conference champs, while the <strong>Lions</strong>did not record a score, due to only four runners competing. JessicaBiedenbender led the way for the Mount with a time of 24:29 and a22nd place finish.In 2005, the Mount finished in seventh place at the HCACChampionship. Anderson once again took home the title in the overall<strong>2012</strong> <strong>CROSS</strong> <strong>COUNTRY</strong> GUIDE 23
